On a related note, a friend of ours ran out of the house last week after hearing a loud bang. Turned out there as a head-on collision between two vehicles in the street out front. A neighbor out driving his tractor heard it too and rushed over, in his tractor, to help. The tractor-driving Good Samaritan was ARRESTED and cited because the wheels of his tractor crossed over onto the blacktop, i.e. the public road, and his tractor did not have a vehicle registration. For those who do not know this, farm equipment that is not driven on public streets does not have to be registered.
No consideration was given to the fact that he was not just going for a Sunday drive in his tractor on the public street; he was coming to the aid of people who had been in a horrible accident in which two people died and three survived and two children were (apparently) left motherless. As you can imagine, both the Good Samaritan and his equipment could have been very useful to the rescue effort, but NO . . .
