LPC Talk List

Yesterday at our social, it was brought up that there should be a
public forum of some sort for the LPC. I agree. So, I made one.

Membership is moderated to help keep spammers at bay, but messages are
not currently moderated at all. I'm predicting that it could be
fairly high volume, so I created the list in Google Groups 2, which
(IMO) is much more conducive to reading via the web interface than
other comparable services. That should please members who choose the
"no email" option.

Please consider joining if you have an interest in our state LP. The
home page for this group is at:

http://groups.google.com/group/LPC-D

Feel free to re-distribute this message to other LP lists.

Regards,
Morey

This is a great idea, since the LPC Secretary has chosen to completely
shut down the "official" County Officers discussion list to prevent
dissenting voices from being heard. As Allen Rice pointed out earlier
this week, all of the messages sent to that list since the Op Com
meeting have disappeared into thin air, including the ones I sent
myself.

Supposedly, he had received complaints about there being "too much
traffic" on that list when officers all over the state began questioning
the dues increase decision made at the August ExCom meeting, so he said
he would "moderate" it so that only essential information would be
posted there. Instead, it appears to have been shut down entirely.
Perhaps all of our outrage over the suspension of the Southern Vice
Chair's membership was being treated as the LPC's very own Tiananmen
Square protest, and the leadership decided it was best to nip it in the
bud before it got out of control. But like Tiananmen Square, there was
too much outrage to keep it all contained.

If we can't trust our elected leadership to listen to our ideas and
opinions, we can always ignore them and start our own discussion list.

Terry Floyd, Treasurer
Libertarian Party of Alameda County
Libertarian Party of Contra Costa County

Excellent, Morey. Thank you! Now we will have a separate place to
carry on discussions regarding the LPCA.
