Reason magazine's Brian Doherty reports this week on the owners of independent small bookstore Borderland Books in the Mission citing the city's recent "minimum wage" hike (I think such legislation is more accurately described as "wage control laws") as a reason for their going out of business:

P.S. to those reading this in the LPSF Meetup group, I encourage you to get more involved with your local party! Any number of ways to do this, but a good start is to come to a monthly meeting (2nd Saturdays, 3-5pm in the main library 4th floor community meeting room, Polk & Grove streets, a half block from Civic Center BART). You can also be more in the loop by subscribing to our local email lists:
• Announcement list (low-volume announcements-only list, restricted posting) - lpsf-announce@...m (I don't always remember to post announcements to the Meetup)
• Discussion list (chat with other local -- and a few out-of-town -- Libertarians, wide-ranging periodic discussions of politics, philosophy, etc.) - political/philosophical issues) lpsf-discuss@yahoogroups.com
• Activist list - core party business list, if you'd like to join, send an email request to Marcy Berry, vicechair@...
Thank you for believing in freedom, and for whatever you are doing to advance the libertarian cause of non-aggression, civil liberties, peace, tolerance, and free markets!
