Libertarian Party of SF Announcements

Dear Friends,

Here are some announcements that might be of interest.

The Libertarian Party of San Francisco will discuss the laundry list of propositions on the ballot at our meeting of August 13, 2016 (3:00 - 5:00 pm, San Francisco Main Library, 4th Floor Conference Room). LPSF Chair Aubrey Freedman will coordinate the writing of ballot arguments and recommendations.

We have ordered a gazillion Gary Johnson door hangers to distribute in neighborhoods across San Francisco. Chris K., who established the S.F. Ron Paul Meetup Group back in 2008 - the Group is still alive and well, now under the name of Golden Gate Liberty Revolution -- has once again stepped up to the plate and established several Gary Johnson Meetups throughout the Bay Area. Just Google Gary Johnson Meetup San Francisco, Oakland, Silicon Valley.

Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, gave a sobering interview by live feed at the Green Party Convention on August 6, 2016. A brief summary of the presentation is on our website (www.lpsf.org<http://www.lpsf.org/>). You can see a full discussion here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaTjIZA5G6Q

The LPSF works closely on matters of common interest with individuals and groups in the Bay Area. One such group is the Nine-County Coalition, loosely-formed grassroots, sounding the alarm on the trend towards regionalism of the Bay Area. The NCC website is at http://nine-county-coalition.squarespace.com/. Good recent article on the group on the San Mateo Daily Journal http://www.smdailyjournal.com/articles/opinions/2016-08-09/stuck-in-the-zone/1776425166341.html

We try to post upcoming events on our website that we believe might be of interest to liberty-leaning Bay Area residents. Here are a three:

Saturday, August 13, 2016: The War and Law League will host a presentation by Dr. Helen Caldicott, "Nuclear Weapons - Can They Be Abolished?" 2:00 - 4:00 pm Koret Auditorium, San Francisco Main Library, 100 Larkin St. Event is free and all are welcome.

Saturday, October 1, 2016: Free Exchange will host free-market economist Walter Block. 7:00pm, San Francisco. More details later at http://www.meetup.com/the-LPSF/

Sunday, October 9, 2016: The Libertarian Party of Alameda County Team and Friends will host its 10th Annual Wine and Liberty Celebration. 1:00 - 4:00 pm, Westover Vineyards Winery, 34329 Palomares Rd, Castro Valley. For reservations and information: http://lpac.us/>.

Kind regards,

Marcy Berry

Hello Michael,

Thank you for the correction. I did not know that the Free Exchange appearance had been postponed. It would be great if Walter Block were a guest at the Commonwealth Club. It would be fantastic if he were able to participate in the current Commonwealth Club series, Big Solutions to Big Problems. Professor Block would offer some balance.

Speaking of the Commonwealth Club, I just received the announcement below from Mr. Dobbins. I have cut and pasted him message below.

Regards,

Marcy

Start message from George Dobbins of the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco:

"Hello from The Commonwealth Club. Apologies for the short notice, but we have a program next Thursday, August 18th with noted political observer Francis Fukuyama discussing “American Political Decay”, which we think may be of interest to Libertarians.

Here is a link to the program and to get the members rate of $8:

Many thanks as always for your gracious consideration and for sharing this, if possible.

Kind regards,
