Libertarian Party of San Francisco Would Like to Join The Tea Party Event April 15

Hi Marcy & Everyone! We will have a table at the Tea Party event this Friday
April 15 late afternoon 4-7 PM at Justin Hermann Plaza at The Embarcadero. For
sure, Jawj and I will be there with our Libertarian Party/Outright shirts on.
Anyone who wants to join us--pleasedo!

There was talk at Saturday's meeting of perhaps others joining us afterwards for
dinner/Atlas Shrugged or Atlas Shrugged/dinner at the Century Theatre at the San
Francisco Centre (845 Market). Rob or Starchild, could one of you please set
this up as a meet-up? The showings on Friday at this theatre are 7:00 PM and
9:30 PM (movie is 1 hour and 42 minutes long).

Marcy, I checked my supply of brochures. I have 52 of the pink Outright
brochures, 68 regular Outright brochures, 50 Left vs. Right brochures, and
perhaps 65 door hangers. Do you think this is enough or perhaps I should come
by beforehand and pick up some more? I have no idea how many we might go
through. As a seasoned tabler, what do you think?

Thanks!
Aubrey

P.S. Marcy, I hope you didn't think I used your name in vain--just wanted to be
sure Sally saw your name first or she might just have deleted the email without
reading it!

Fantastic, Aubrey! Glad Outright Libertarians will have a presence at the gathering. Hope Sally does not get confused. Regarding brochures, I gave all the Left vs Right brochures and all the door hangers I had to you and Starchild. I am planning to order some Left vs Right, but they will not be here for the 15th.

Thank you for arranging all this. Have fun at the gathering and at the movie.

Marcy

It's still just LPSF at the gathering. LPSF giving out Outright brochures
is like LPSF giving out ISIL brochures -- it doesn't mean that either
Outright or ISIL is participating. I'd have a hard time getting Outright
board approval for participation in a Tea Party event.

Seconded -- thanks for coordinating this, Aubrey, and Sally for
graciously encouraging LPSF participation!

Sally, could I have a few minutes to speak as a representative of the
Libertarian Party at the event? (If you're trying to keep it non-
partisan, I could also speak simply as a local pro-freedom activist
and regular candidate for public office -- I may be running for mayor
this year, but haven't decided yet.)

Regarding "Atlas Shrugged", the Pacific Research Institute in SF and
Students for Liberty in Berkeley are both organizing viewings -- might
we want to piggy-back on one of those? I don't have time to look up
times and such right now, but I'd suggest checking this out and
discussing before scheduling our own separate event.

Sally,

Not sure what you're referring to, please clarify.

The agenda is set...it's late in the game to get speaking time. But we
always have time for people to come up to the astrotruf and speak...that
would be a time for you...it's what you did last time.

Okay, sounds good Sally. I guess I wasn't aware that I was speaking on the "astroturf" last time (whatever that is), because as I recall you introduced me briefly before I spoke. Can yourself or someone else introduce me this time as well, and how long will I have to speak? Please do keep me in the loop for advance planning and setting the agenda for future events in SF, so I can be a scheduled speaker next time around -- the first I heard of this event was via the LPSF list.

I'm also willing to give what assistance I can in terms of getting the message out that the Tea Party movement is not the GOP. Many on the left are of course trying to spin them as synonymous, or even brand the Tea Party as *more* conservative and objectionable than the mainstream Republicans, and I don't think we should let them get away with that. The Taxed-Enough-Already Party hasn't gotten enough credit for largely eschewing the intolerant social agenda of the religious right and focusing on economic issues. The presence and voices of people like myself and other LPSF members can help counter that negative spin. One subtle but useful distinction would be to put "T.E.A. Party" on fliers and such rather than "Tea Party".

I'd be interested in hearing more about what the planning process was for this event -- who was involved, what kind of meetings took place, etc., perhaps when you have more of a breather after Friday. Oh, and let me know if there's anything you need help with between now and then.

Love & Liberty,

Just me and a couple of people who help me...no planning no mtgs. I cannot
intro you...there isn't time any more...we are tightly scheduled...
We only have 2hrs of PA...so it's all compressed...after doing these, I have
a good sense of what works, what people like and the pace...sorry...if you
are on my email list, then youd know about it for months already...sorry
about that...but trust me, there will be plenty of opps...and really, don't
be more than 1.5 mins...it's not fair to others...thx,
