Marc,
I'll second your request for an endorsement.
Love & Liberty,
((( starchild )))
If there is a meeting this weekend, could a possible endorsement be
on the agenda? Below is the current description of the event I have
helped to organize. Please note that there is no reference to money
for social programs; this is a clean anti-war event with a reference
to impeachment thrown in. No contribution is required from endorsing
organizations.Thanks,
MarcActor Sean Penn and Peace Activist Cindy Sheehan will
headline "Iraq: 5 Years Too Many", an event marking the fifth
anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq. Also featured will be
Reverend Gregory Stewart, Senior Minister of the Unitarian
Universalist Church; Matt Gonzalez, former President of the San
Francisco Board of Supervisors; and Justin Raimondo, Editorial
Director of Antiwar.com. The program will begin at 5pm on Sunday,
March 16th, 2008 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 1187 Franklin
Street (near Geary) in San Francisco. After the speakers finish,
attendees will march to the War Memorial Auditorium on Van Ness
Avenue the names of Americans and Iraqis killed in the war.Event organizers are calling for an End to the Iraq Occupation Now,
Accountability for Those Who Started the War and No War in Iran.
Thus far, the U.S. invasion of Iraq has resulted in 4000 American
military deaths, nearly 30,000 injuries, and several hundred thousand
Iraqi casualties. Spending on the war thus far has exceeded $500
billion and continues at a rate of $275 million per day – with no end
in sight. Despite the fact that the U.S. invaded Iraq under false
pretenses, no one in the Administration has served any time in
prison, and impeachment proceedings have been blocked by the House
leadership. The suggested donation for the event is $5-$10, but no one will be
turned away for lack of funds. The program is sponsored by the Iraq
Moratorium – SF Bay Area and other local peace groups. A poster for
the event is available at http://www.iraqmoratorium-sfbay.org/2008-03-
16-Poster.pdf.
