"Independent Conservatives": A new source for LP memberships?

Hello all,

Anyone listen to Michael Savage's broadcast, "The Savage Nation"? It comes on daily from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, EDT, on WABC 770 Talk Radio (NYC). You can stream the show over the Internet, as I do.

Anyhow, when I listened to his show the other day, after he excoriated the Democrats and Republicans, as he is wont to do, I heard him declare himself an "independent conservative." I tried to call him and suggest that he consider joining the Libertarian Party, but I couldn't get through. My point is, if there are other people who are similarly disgusted with "Demopublicans," and possibly also consider themselves "independent conservatives," do you think this is a block of people the LP should seek out? I think it might be fruitful for the LP to do so, but how do we identify these people?

BTW, here's Mr. Savage's website: http://www.michaelsavage.wnd.com/

And here's an interesting article you may like to read about him, "Michael Savage: 'Independent' Voice Helps My Talk Show Thrive"

What's most interesting is the first sentence of the article: "Veteran radio talk show host Michael Savage credits the resurgence of his show to his status as an 'independent conservative.' " (My emphasis.)

So let's try to connect with "independent conservatives." Are there "independent liberals"? If so, let's see if we can also get them on board the LP Train. (Everyone knows that Michael Savage lives in SF, yes?)

Thanks for reading.
