Immigration LTE

Ron,

  Charge legal immigrants higher fees, and even more will come without going through the official procedures. The charges about immigrants sucking up welfare dollars are based on xenophobia, not reality. The best way to counter them is to tell people the truth about economics and where the money is going.

  I was just out in the Castro and stopped by a Mexican restaurant to give them some anti-border control fliers. The woman working there seemed very grateful when she thanked me.

Dear Starchild;

Yes the coyotes could compete by lowering their fees to bring - ILLEGALS - into the country. But I'm talking about - LEGAL - immigration.

Yes, on a moral basis, I do to have problems about charging a fee for someone to exercise a right to come to the USA and get a better paying job then they can have back home. The surprising thing is even the awful way illegals are paid they can still manage to send money back home.

However, economically and socially and politically, I considered the fee program to offset the constant charges bruted about about coming to suck up the "free welfare". and "free medical". With an immigrant funded "welfare" program then the critics would have to shut up about the "burden" on the taxpayers illegals bring to the country.

It's all about user fees - yes!!!

Ha ha ha... No, I do not blame Craigslist for my prosecution by the
Fremont Police Department. Actually I am happy and impressed that they
continue to maintain their Erotic Services section despite law
enforcement targeting users.

BTW I like your immigration letter Ron, except for the part about
charging a $2000 fee to enter the country. On a practical level, the
coyotes would simply lower their rates and the black market in
immigration would continue. On a moral level, people should simply not
have to pay in order to exercise basic human rights.
