Homeless programs & services budget in SF

I attended a neighborhood meeting on Monday. Speakers appeared to be quite ready to vote everybody out of office over their total loss of patience with "homeless" often violent people in their neighborhood. Their solution seemed to be throw everybody who commits a property crime (very broadly defined) in jail and throw away the key. This would solve the "homeless issue" in six months. They are probably right that totally ending all the "free" services would immediately vacate this town of non productive folks. Conversely, continuing to shower them with largess obviously attracts more.

Unfortunately, the attendees will have nobody but more progressives to vote for come November.
