This just in from Chesa Boudin. He is not currently running to get back his job as district attorney, but another reformer who cares about issues like police abuse, John Hamasaki, will be running against mayor London Breed’s appointee, drug warrior Brooke Jenkins.

The San Francisco Examiner put it perfectly this week when they summarized the recent revelations about DA Brooke Jenkins.
Jenkins spent most of this year hiding behind a thinly-veiled lie: Despite posing as a volunteer, she was secretly rolling in fat consulting fees from the recall effort.
Jenkins claims the big paychecks had no connection to her work for the recall campaign. But we now know that simply isn’t true.
It’s hard to imagine DA Jenkins accepting this type of dishonesty from a criminal defendant in the courtroom. And if she were actually being truthful, she would have disclosed -- from day one -- that she was drawing paychecks while acting as chief spokesperson for the recall.
But she didn’t do that.
Her decision to hide the truth is only the most recent example of her tendency to distort reality.
First, she quit the DA’s office while accusing me of botching a murder case against a mentally ill man who killed his mother. But a closer look revealed it was actually her who mishandled the case.
She also lied when she claimed that she’s a “progressive prosecutor.” She’s actually been working to dismantle progressive reform in favor of an antiquated “tough-on-crime” approach. And she opened up a new front in the ineffective War on Drugs.
Jenkins owes the truth to the people she seeks to represent. That’s why I’ve called on the SF Ethics Commission to investigate the ties between Jenkins, people in her administration, and the recall effort and demand full disclosure of the funds paid and received from them during the campaign.
