FW: Happy LPCA New Year!

Happy LPCA New Year!

By C. Michael Pickens

Happy
New Year Everyone!

This is
by far my favorite holiday. I use this
time to reflect on the actions that were taken and the results of those actions
from the previous year. To figure out
what worked well and what didn't work so well.
You know what they say, "it's only a mistake as long as you didn't learn
from it." There is a great analogy I
like to use, that relates "mistakes" as tools to help achieve more success in
all aspects of our life.

I'm
sure you've heard of the game of golf.
When golf was first invented, the golf balls were completely smooth all round
compared to the golf balls that we have now that have the little divots or
indentations all over them. You see what
golfers found out is as they hit the balls that were completely smooth, those
balls would get little nicks, dings and indentations in them and the more
nicks, dings and indentations that those balls would get, they found that the
balls would fly faster, farther and stay truer on its' intended path. So then they started to design the balls with
the indentations already in them so golfers wouldn't have to wait for a ball to
get all dinged up for it to work the best.

You
see, this is the same thing in life. We
all start out as a smooth golf ball and as we go through life we get some
nicks, dings and dents that we are able to learn from and we are able to move
through life faster, farther and stay truer on our path. But something happens to us while we are
moving along through life. We realize
that we don't like getting nicks, and dings and dents because they hurt. So we stop playing the game. We pull back and retreat into what is
comfortable for us, we stop learning and we stop growing. When something is not growing, it's dying, if
a flower is not blooming, it's wilting and if we are not moving forward, we are
moving backward. There is no standing
still in life. The world is constantly
changing every second, minute and hour of the day.

Og
Mandino said it best, "The secret of success is to triple your rate of
failure." That's right, get out there and
get those nicks, and dents. Scrape your
knee every once in a while. Because you
make these mistakes you are going to learn from them and the next time the same
situation comes up you are going to know how to handle it, you are going to
move through it confidently. So go out
there and get the nicks, dents and dings.
Go out and learn something new.
Go out there and share Libertarian solutions with someone who has never
heard it before.

As a
Libertarian you are morally and ethically obligated to do so. As an American you are morally and ethically
obligated to do so. Let me tell you what
I mean by that. If you saw a blind man
running full speed and in front of him there was a 100ft cliff. Would you yell at him to stop running? Of course you would, you would feel morally
and ethically obligated to do so.

It's
the same thing with America. America is
that blind man running straight for the edge of the cliff and it is up to us to
share Libertarian solution with others to save it.

You
see, the media ignores our solutions.
The media ignores our party. And
it's not because our solutions won't work or because we are insignificant. It's because our solutions only benefit the
American people. Our solutions don't
benefit the politicians and they don't benefit the corporatists. They take the power back from the power
brokers and give it back to us the people.
And the media ignores our party because they want to keep us insignificant,
they will continue to attempt to silence us.

They call it television programming for a reason. It makes so much sense when you hear it. They are telling you a vision and they are
programming you with it. The
"Psychological Operations Field Manual No.33-1" published in August 1979 by the
Department of the Army Headquarters in Washington DC.

"Audiovisual media: such as television,
electronic tape recordings, and sound motion pictures are the second most
effective means of communication available to the psychological operator. Effectiveness is based on seeing and hearing
the persuasive message. This media is an
excellent means of transmitting persuasive messages and eliciting a high degree
of recall.

Television in an all
encompassing-mass communication medium.
Like radio, it makes use of the sense of hearing to convey an idea. Like printed material, it makes use of the
sense of sight, adding the element of motion.
And like the motion picture, it combines sight, sound and motion. Television is immediate; in effect, it places
the viewer in two locations simultaneously, creating the illusion of
participating in a distant event.

Advantages

Speed- Television programming
can reach large segments of the target audience rapidly. The transmission of events can be
instantaneous.

Overcomes Illiteracy- Illiteracy
is not a barrier; an audience need not be able to read.

Unifies- Television brings
people in widely separate locations closer together by exposing them visually
to the same ideas and concepts.

Aural-visual- Television appeals
to two senses, each reinforcing the other.
This gives the viewer a sense of involvement."

You
see, they call it tell a vision programming for a reason. They are telling us a vision and they are
programming us with it. But most
Libertarians already know this. We have
taken the time to look at all of the solutions available before forming an
opinion. Whereas most people go to the
news to "get" an opinion, instead of "hear" an opinion. Even though the power brokers control the
TV. We have something better and more
effective.

"Face-to-face (interpersonal)
communication: is the most effective means of transmitting a persuasive
message. It is employed in rallies,
rumor campaigns, group discussions, lectures, show-and-tell demonstrations,
social organizations, social activities, entertainment, and individual
person-to-person contact, all providing a participating experience for the
individual or group to recall later.

We are
the messengers. Which means we have the responsibility of delivering the
message. If every Libertarian in America
were to go out and educate one person, just one other person on the benefits of
Libertarian solutions, and got them to join us by registering and becoming a
party member, in 7 years we would have a majority.

So it
is up to us this new year, to go out and get the nicks, dents and dings, to
learn how to communicate effectively and bring in just one person. That's all I am asking you to do. Just go out and register one person. You can get voter registration forms for free
at your local elections office, library or post office. Also, please make sure you become a dues
paying member of your state Libertarian Party.
It is only $25 dollars a year and you can become a member by going to
your state party website.

Commit
to teaching one person about Libertarianism this year. Write down that goal. Teaching one person about Liberty is very
easy, not to mention it will give you practice and make it much easier for you
in the future to teach more people when the opportunity arises. When we all take that small action, it will
add up and have a huge effect.

Let's
work together to make 2012 the best year ever for Liberty and the Libertarian
Party!

Sincerely,

C. Michael Pickens

Hi Marcy,

That's a terrific and inspiring New Year message from Michael Pickens.

Thanks for presenting it. I will forward it to Mark Axinn, the Chair of
the LPNY.

I liked best when he told us:

You see, the media ignores our solutions. The media ignores our party.
And it's not because our solutions won't work or because we are
insignificant. It's because our solutions only benefit the American
people. Our solutions don't benefit the politicians and they don't
benefit the corporatists. They take the power back from the power
brokers and give it back to us the people. And the media ignores our
party because they want to keep us insignificant, they will continue to
attempt to silence us.

Talk to you.

Alton

And let's hope the New Year will be a fateful one for all libertarians.
