FW: Groups.yahoo.com (Yahoo Groups) Shutting Down

Mike

We should have migrated long ago. Rebecca Lau and I created alternative
groups in Google that were never populated. I believe they are still
available, unless there is a certain period of time of inactivity by which
they are deactivated.

I left the google group, but I'm sure it still works.
You can also try Slack

I use Slack for other LP org's I belong to. I wouldn't mind having another
for LPSF forums (instead of Yahoo groups).

We are largely using this simply as an email exchange hub. So simply replacing that function seems best in my opinion.

Slack seems like overkill.

Mike

Email is a great protocol, and we’ll surely replace that functionality.

However, it’s also not ideal for “chatting.” Something like Slack, but less centralized, is something I’ve been looking into!

I don't think Slack is overkill, but I think there might be better options.

One that I'm looking into now is Discourse. It acts as both a mailing list and forum for chatting, so that each of us can choose to either use the established email protocol that we are used to, or a more modern chat user interface that makes conversations more accessible.

Best,
Jeff

Sounds good

Mike

Not sure if Discourse and Discord are the same thing, but I've used Discord
and like it a lot. When I said Slack earlier, I actually mistook it for
Discord since I use both.
