fusion helps us

Chris,

Given that all of the candidates listed by Rob are from New York, the
fusion/FEC shortcomings explanation seems likely. And your question,
"Should the LPUS not announce (a Libertarian candidate) because the
GOP had an unexpected attack of good taste?" makes sense to me.
Penalizing Libertarians who were able to get another party's
nomination in addition to our own seems counter-productive. Unless of
course they are not particularly libertarian in their views -- what we
should be looking at is not the letter that appears next to a
candidate's name, but the positions that appear *under* his or her name.

Also worth noting is that these candidates are not identified as
Republicans on the national LP website. In fact they really aren't
identified at all -- clicking on the name of a candidate in the LP's
list simply opens another page with the same exact information for
that candidate printed on a page by itself. No details, no links to
candidate websites, nothing. Totally useless. Now that is something to
be annoyed about!

If the national LP lacks the staff time to make the listings more
functional, they should set it up so that the candidates have the
access to work on their pages themselves. But no doubt such an
interactive approach would offend the preference of many current LNC
members for secrecy and top-down control.

Love & Liberty,
