Fox Ousts Ron Paul

Derek,

He seems thinner lately which may be explained by a diet change in the past few years to veganism.

Ron probably wishes to live long enough to serve another ten terms in Congress. Why is this surprising?

Is Ron Paul really a vegan? This would surprise me given that he

is

a physician.

Paul was one of only a handful of Republicans to vote against the
illegal invasion of Iraq, contending rightly that the Constitution
clearly states that only Congress can declare war.

Derek,

Your response reminds me of the apocryphal story of an encounter between a TV reporter and a general she was interviewing, which went something as follows:

During the course of the interview, he mentioned teaching his teenage son how to shoot. The reporter was taken aback. "But by giving him these guns, you've equipped him to be a cold-blooded killer!" The general shot back, "You're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?"

Yes, the human body is capable of eating meat. Also of committing murder. Surely having the capacity to do something does not automatically mean it's a positive thing, or something we ought to be doing. Maybe humans evolved (or as you say, were designed with, if that's your POV) the capacity to eat meat because:

(a) it was necessary for survival at one point in our history before we became more civilized
(b) if you're starving to death, it's good to have the option (I would kill and eat an animal if I were starving to death and there were no other way to survive)
