Subject: [swopusa] Forum show canceled due to lack of opposition

When KQED National Public Radio called on Wednesday December 23rd to
ask SWOP-USA's Executive Director Robyn Few to come on and do a show
about the decriminalization of prostitution she was elated. However
after producers of the Forum show with Michael Krasney tried for a
whole day to find someone with an opposing view, they could not and
were forced to cancel the show. "I believe that this is a positive
sign, said Few, "We knew that there was support for our issue, but the
fact that a radio station of KQED's caliber couldn't find at least one
person to oppose the view that prostitutes should not be jailed for
consensual sexual activity bodes well for our initiatives. People know
that protecting the rights and safety of adult women (and men) in the
sex industry is more important than some archaic belief system that
prostitutes are evil. It is going to be a difficult position to
defend. Decriminalization of prostitution will actually make it easier
for law enfor cement to detect child prostitution and trafficking of
women in the industry. These are the crimes that everyone wants to put
an end to."
