Bryce,

  Tabling something, by definition, means that it is to be a future
agenda item, normally at the subsequent meeting unless otherwise stated.

As I recall we finally tabled the discussion of announcements policy
and there was no mention of it being an agenda item for a future
meeting. There certainly was no vote on the committee itself.

Actually, because there appeared to be an unreasonable amount of
debate even on the composition of the committee, we never actually
did refer it to committee. The motion to make Bryce the chair of the
committee was on the floor, but there were objections to the list of
committee members, so the whole thing was tabled before we could
officially form the committee. As we learned from the October
meeting, unless there's a clear official vote of the membership, not
everyone will accept the "decision" as valid.

Chris, can you validate or refute my memory of the events?

1. Sorry about your disappointing experience at the Metreon.

2. My minute notes say that the DAF discussion was "Referred to
Committee",
not "Tabled." And that a "Committee on the DAF" materialized on the
spot,
with Bryce as its Chair. I would imagine that Bryce would now have
to refer
the matter back to the membership, so that your proposal can proceed.

3. Your proposal is excellent. I do hope that Chris Maden will give
it
about 5 minutes on the Agenda, and the membership will make a quick
decision
at the meeting. I really did not find the enormous amount of time
spent at
the last meeting on this topic productive.
