Eric would like you to check out this post on Crooks and Liars

Eric wants you to check out the post titled Newsmax: Military Coup Would Take Care Of "Obama Problem". You can view it at this link:

Additionally, Eric had this to say:
So does anybody still think we can work with the Right?

Eric…see Mike2's reader comments below this article you sent. It says it all. You can call one side "left" and one side "right" but both Democrats and Rpublicans are only slight differentiations of the same flavor….not something substantially different despite targeting the NewsMax audience of the "right". Mike2 mentions "right wing fanatics get more attention from the military regime under Republicans than we progressives get from the Democratic military regime when "our guys" are in power". Does that sound like a radical difference that should cause us to focus our activism on one side or the other? I can't see it.

As H.L Mencken said. "Washington D.C is like a restaurant that sometimes has Democratic waiters and sometimes Republican waiters. But they are all serving the same Wall Street hash."

It seems we've spent a lot of time on this discussion. If the case can't be definitively made soon. perhaps we should just move on and accept that each of us will find our own bliss working with whatever opportunity seems right.

What do you think?

Mike

We've had a military industrial coup since about the Eisenhower administration. Republicans see it when Democrats are in power. I saw it as clear as daylight under Bush. And the truth is that the "military industrial" complex and the permanent standing military under a strong executive have created a military regime with a window dressing of democracy and a show of elections every two years.
Right wing fanatics and sensible progressives like me all recognize this reality sometimes, but then we are all tempted by what that military regime can do for our OTHER "issues" and "causes" when our side of the junta gains power, and so we sidle up to it and beg for it to listen to our agendas. (The right wing fanatics get more attention from the military regime under Republicans than we progressives get from the Democratic military regime when "our guys" are in power.)
But, hey, what can you do? This is a permanent reality. We live in a world of power, not democracy.
No, I don't think the military will go after Obama, simply because as far a military spending and basing and the American imperial position around the planet are concerned, why bother? He's on their side. Now if he started a process of industrial retrenchment, American reindustrialization on a non-military basis and imperial retreat, then all bets are off, but killing would be so unnecessary. Corporate money would flow through Congress and block him at every turn. He would become politically dead and that would be enough to maintain the status quo. The military system has its levers of power and it knows how to use them. But it simply won't happen. He's one of them and they know it. He's safe. Rest easy.

Because the Right is far more dangerous than the Left. We know what liberals are. They don't disguise it. When we work them on on issue or another, it's the issue and not their philosophy that we support.

The Right, on the other hand, hides their extremism behind the facade of being 'conservative' or 'libertarian'. When we work with them, the public associates us (real libertarians) with them (the fake ones). We sabotage our own cause by associating with them at all.
