I agree Marcy -- many local political groups have already published their endorsements, and it would be good to have ours out sooner than we usually have.
Ideally we'd have them published by the earliest date that voters get their ballots and have the opportunity to start voting. It's not clear precisely when that is, but the Elections Department's website states that the *deadline* for them "to transmit ballots to military and overseas voters" is Sept. 19, so presumably they start sending them some time before that.
The larger deadline we definitely want to meet in terms of having our endorsements out there is October 5. That is the first day for the Elections Department to send out mail ballots to other voters, and also the first day that in-person voting is open at City Hall.

Hi Marcy and Starchild. Yes, I was planning to finish this up at the next meeting. There were one or two ballot measures left that I feel we didn't get to finish up completely, plus we'll need our definite YES or NO for our traditional postcard mailing, which I assume we will probably do again. I am pleased with how things are going with the state party, and I have found Emily Tilford (the new Treasurer) very helpful with everything I ask her, but since there is no state election this time around, no recommendations will be necessary for state issues this time.

Ah! You are correct, Aubrey that 1) we have not yet finished all the propositions, and 2) no state election. So, seems like I jumped the gun. But glad we will have time to discuss all this at the next meeting.
As I recall, LPSF has mostly gone by the release date of the voter pamphlet, which is around beginning of October. My suggestion is start posting and promoting right after our September 12 meeting. Maybe also pick three or so propositions to really focus on. And of course, make our biggest promotion when the voter pamphlet comes out.

Darn. We just have to get people to know the Libertarian Party of San Francisco exists! I attended a function a couple of weeks ago, and the woman I was sitting next to said, "Oh, Libertarian? I did not even know you guys were still around. I thought the Libertarian Party had just died away." And the man a couple of guests away at the table said, "But, is the Libertarian Party still an official political party?" And the other woman says, "Well, I am glad your party is still around. I guess you will be campaigning for Rand Paul?"
