Documentation of outreach to voters

Hi, I am forwarding this email from LPCA chair Loren Dean. Did LPSF do any outreach to voters between Jan 2020 and March 2025? I know we did the postcard to invite people to the 4th of July party but that was after March 2025.

Hello county leadership teams!

As you may be aware, the LPCA is the plaintiff in a lawsuit against California Secretary of State Shirley Weber. The purpose of the suit is forcing California compliance with the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, compelling California to clean up the voter rolls. Obviously, the state doesn’t want to do that.

With the suit proceeding, the time has come to gather documentation. Our principal complaint is that we (the LPCA and its county affiliates) waste money trying to contact voters who do not exist. We therefore have incurred damages due to the state’s inaction on the voter rolls, so the state should clean up the rolls.

For that to stick, we need to document such expenditures. Therefore, I’m looking for ANY kind of documentation about ANY kind of outreach your counties have done between Jan 2020 and March 2025. I want to know what you did, how much you spent (in both money and man-hours), and who you were able to contact. In your contacting, how many “missing” voters did you find: no-answers on the phone, doesn’t-live-here at the door, returned mail, bounced email, undeliverable texts, ANYTHING. We have to document damages, so we have to document effort.

Please dig around for this stuff and reply to me with whatever you find by the end of the month. Let’s stick it to the state!

Thanks,
Loren Dean
