Divide and conquer

Looks like the wedge issue is doing it's work on the MALP. The rodney
King in me regrets that the need was felt to form a new organization.
We are a political party. We are supposed to have disagreements hut
try to keep our eye on the ball, which is victory for liberty.

More and more I'm thinking if I had a time machine and cupid's arrow,
George Washington would be my target. I think the marquis d' lafayette
would agree. George had a lot to say about the import of Unity against
a holstile world in his fareell address. His words helped delay the
nastiness of the civil war for over 60 years. Unfortunately we got a
lincoln before we got another Washington and 600000 people died and we
still suffer the fallout from that nasty war.

You are a very smart and talented guy. I ask you to read his farewell
address and especially the first half about the importance of Union.
Maybe you can find a way to reunite the MALP and bury this wedge. The
only winner now is Carl Rove, the Rasputin of the New Millenia.

On the particulats of gay marriage, can Cloud Howell be persuaded to
simply stand against State Licensing and otherwise leave the issue alone.

Hummmm...Phil is delving into some deep stuff, and I would like to
also put in my two-cents worth. On what I disagree: Phil's
association of religion and violence; I would prefer to associate
violence with power, since political elites have been as violent as
any Inquisition. On what I agree: Phil's call for libertarians
folding out the big tent and working with all points of view. As
saddened as I am to note Rob's frustruation with the Howell/Cloud
team, I could not help but notice Rob's expression regading "taking
back" the LP in his region. Them's fightin' words, which, as Phil
indicated in his first e-mail, might just push Howell/Cloud further
to the right. Personally, I do not see the LP as a subsidiary of any
specific group. I would prefer to see the LP giving attention to all
groups (constituencies, issues) equally; and, as Rob points out,
following the LP Platform in definitely no excluding any group. Just
a thought, for what it is worth.
