Class warfare and libertarian liars

Hi All,

Every time there is a news article on City College, feathers fly. Apparently the unions and progressives have a lot riding on the status quo and don’t want things changed at CCSF. This morning I did my obligatory post on today’s article, eliciting louder cries of class warfare and accusations of “libertarian hypocrisy” (even though I make sure not to reveal myself as a card carrying libertarian). If you have time, contribute your own post.

The article in today’s Examiner is Eric Mar calling for the politicians to block the Accreditation Commission from closing City College. Not a call for the college to get its act together so it can remain open and continue serving students efficiently, as is stated in all my posts and arguments. http://www.sfexaminer.com/sanfrancisco/ccsf-closure-would-bruise-san-franciscos-economy/Content?oid=2582022

BTW, again, we libertarians are not keen on government funded education, and also of course the Accreditation Commission might have a hidden agenda. But right now at this time an place, the issue is: do taxpayers keep forking over money to a dysfunctional institution, do voters insist that the college improve its governance and remain open, or do voters say the heck with students who can’t afford anything else and close the place. This issue is not a long term one; it needs to be resolved by June 2014.

Marcy
