Cindy4Congress: Can you raise an issue at tonight's meeting?

Dear All,

I am confused. Why the .... would the LPSF *not* endorse a
LIBERTARIAN candidate for anything, from dog catcher on up. I have no
problem with individual Libertarians supporting whomever they want to
support. But LPSF officially refraining from running a Libertarian
candidate?!?

Well said, Phil.

I completely reject the calls for the LP to go out of business by

not running candidates for President or against the Speaker. We have
a relevant message as a multi-issue party focusing on areas of the
economy needing a libertarian approach, as well as social issues,
international relations, and government reform.

To abandon our party's mission and embrace a socialist agenda over a

single issue would be a tragedy for Libertarians.

There are certainly ways that Ms. Sheehan and the LP can work

together on areas of mutual interest, such as the war in Iraq.
However, considering the importance of this race and the leadership
that you can provide, voters deserve an opportunity to hear from and
vote for a small government, individual-liberties candidate.

I respect a great deal of what Sheehan has done vis-a-vis the war.

However, I am unwilling to allow that respect on a single issue to
translate into acquiesence to an implicit demand that the Libertarian
Party cease operations in order to make life easier for her candidacy.
If she doesn't want a Libertarian competitor, she always has the
option to seek the LP nomination (an option that I have heard she's
not keen on pursuing).

Cheers,

Brian

Tony,

Thank you for keeping in touch. I still would like
to meet Cindy, preferably over a private meal, or coffee to discuss
strategy.

Right now I think that having a libertarian in
the race will be better for Cindy's race. Like a pod of killer

whales attacking

a humpback, the more the merrier. We complement each other along

with the

greens Together we will be able to campaign against her with more
power and more money from our respective bases. I intend to focus on

the silent

majority of economically conservative folks who are concerned about

the imminent

bankruptcy of our city, our state and our nation. I also think that

as a gay man

I might be able to get the ear of some in the gay community who are

automatic

Democrats.

People with means and dedication and considerable
talent have approached me and urged my candidacy. Talk of conceding

the

libertarian voice in this race is simply premature, (although the

question is

being discussed within our ranks, and we welcome input.)

A really good libertarian candidacy is likely to
hurt Pelosi more than it hurts Sheehan, and may well add to the total
who vote to oppose her from the pool of folks who usually do not vote.

Once the decision is made, I will run to defeat The
Machine. Together we will magnify the glaring short comings of the

scalawag.

incumbant

Given the stance that, if running , I will
be in it to win, the time may cone , not now but later, that
events, efforts, talents and persuasion may wake the voters up. Much

to our

mutual delight, one of us will then be poised to win.. When
that happy time arrives, I hope that Cindy and Krissey (or whoever is
the Green) will consider enthusiastically throwing
their support my way. Maybe the Republican might do the same. In
the event it is Cindy or Krissey who is poised for an upset, then
I would, in consultation with my backers and volunteers, make the same
consideration.

Until that time arrives, lets get to work forcing
Ms. Pelosi out of the Rose Garden and make her face the fact it is

time to

restore the democratic process in San Francisco.

She has never had to campaign since her coronation
by the Burton Machine except her first primary, which she almost

lost to Harry

Britt. Smoking her out of the rose bushes to really face the voters

will surely

make her vulnerable. Then we all can
take our bites.

Lets get to it.

Still open to meeting Cindy,

Sorry I missed the op today for a public meeting
but prior arrangements took priority.

  Marc, Dede, Phil:

I didn't make the meeting at Dianne's house, but I do hope your
invitation, Marc, was discussed and considered.

I've included a few Green Party friends in this reply because I

think my

message is to all parties and individuals who are tired of the

protected

status que and want justice and peace.

My advice to the Cindy team would have been to ask the SFLP to

refrain

from running a candidate, and promote Cindy's campaign instead

because:

The goal of Cindy's campaign (as far as I'm concerned) is not

merely to

get Cindy elected to Congress, but far more importantly is that

her success in

defeating Nancy Pelosi will open the door to third party (and

fourth party)

candidates; it will show the Democrats and Pepublicans that they are
vulnerable; and it will embolden the average citizen to become

political

  informed and active.

  One person, one voice, among the 435 House Reps is barely audible;
beginning a Movement of Hope can change everything, as highminded

as it may

  sound... can change the world.

On Sept. 12, 2001 our nation was more united than it was on any other
single day in our history, and as we all know this administration

squandered

that unity with lies, deception and an immoral and illegal war.

I believe we are at Sept. 12, 2001 again, but this time the enemy is
fascism and corruption, and the people are ready for a change.

Cindy has dedicated her life to ending the war, and she has paid more
than anyone I know toward that end (see article:

http://www.dailykos .com/story/ 2007/5/28/ 12530/1525).

Finally, Cindy is the leader I've been waiting for. I wish I had
half the guts she has. It is too bad I was so focused on my hero

being a

man... I'm glad it turned out to be Scindy Sheehan.

The San Francisco Libertarian Party would like to
invite Cindy Sheehan to address a future meeting. We hold

meetings on

the second Saturday afternoon of each month. The purpose of

Cindy¢s

presentation should be to explain why the SFLP should not run a

candidate in

    the 8th CD.

Phil Berg, who is copied on this note, ran in 2006
against Pelosi and is now chair of the SFLP. If Cindy had not

entered

the race, he would definitely have run in 2008, but is now

willing to

consider leaving our ballot position open. Opinions within the

SFLP

vary on this issue, and Cindy should expect to get some tough
questions. On the other hand, if she is successful, you could

have one

less alternative to Pelosi to worry about next November.

Perhaps you could discuss this opportunity at your
    meeting tonight?
