Below is the invitation and questionnaire that was sent to the candidates
for the Direct Action Forum this month. It is essentially unchanged from
the invitation used last year.
~Chris
Congratulations on qualifying for the November ballot. The Libertarian
Party of San Francisco is considering our recommendations for that
election, and we invite you to join us on Wednesday, August 20th for our
candidate forum if you are interested in our recommendation.
We will be publishing our recommendations in our newsletter and on our Web
site, as well as in other voter information resources. Our recommendations
will be shared with the registered Libertarians of San Francisco, as well
as any other interested voters. We are looking for candidates who will
reverse San Francisco's trend of larger and larger government, bringing
back our city's legacy of freedom and individuality. Our principles are
embodied in the Liberty Pledge:
I pledge to the citizens of San Francisco that as
their elected representative I will work to:
Restore liberty, not restrict it; shrink government,
not expand it; reduce taxes, not raise them; abolish
programs, not create them; and promote the freedom
and independence of citizens, not the interference
of government in their lives.
We invite candidates to consider signing this pledge and to answer the
questions below. Bring the questionnaire to the forum if you can attend,
or mail it to us at 2215-R Market St., PMB 170, San Francisco, CA
94114. Everyone's questionnaire will be thoughtfully evaluated, though
special consideration will be given to those who sign the Liberty Pledge.
The candidate forum will be held at the August Direct Action Forum, at
Sheesh Mahal Indian Restaurant (Polk St. between Post and Sutter), from 7
until 10 pm. If you know you can attend, please call me at 845-8202 or
e-mail me at chair@...; drop-ins are welcome, but priority will be
given to candidates who have responded. If you can only attend for part of
the time, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Sincerely,
Chris Maden
