[CALPCandidates] New Cell Phone law won't save lives

Timely piece Anthony, and thanks Mark for passing it along. Here in SF if they were serious about reducing traffic fatalities, they would fill in the potholes and keep the streets paved properly! The SF Bicycle Coalition has resorted to sending volunteers out to mark the edges of dangerous cracks and potholes with paint in order to warn cyclists to whom these things are a major hazard --

Their initiative is a win-win-win as far as I'm concerned -- not only does it enhance safety, but it will probably also goad the authorities into fulfilling their responsibilities more quickly, as well as embarrassing them in the eyes of the public -- the longer they fail to deliver, the greater the embarrassment potential. Especially with SF mayor Gavin Newsom now running for governor.
