I have written op-eds on the California government school system for the Libertarian Perspective which were picked up and re-publsihed in MSM. So this article on todays Lew Rockwell caught my eye because it addresses some points of order regarding the State and parents rights in California but also applies to any state.
The article quoted a interview conducted by the SF Chronicle about schooling and the quote is a chilling commentary on the State.
Leslie] Heimov [executive director of the Children's Law Center of Los Angeles] said her organization's chief concern was not the quality of the children's education, but their "being in a place daily where they would be observed by people who had a duty to ensure their ongoing safety."
