[BAP2] It happened in England. TRUE STORY

Dianne,
We need to find the "ring leaders" and I'm sure the libertarians would be on board for this.

A statewide ad hoc coalition of the TP, LP, Patriots, 9-12, etc would have clout.

After the innocent mans is released, his property is restored, and the perpetrators are punished we can resume fighting over our trivial differences.

I'll forward this to the LP list to see what comes up. Raeanne is familiar with the Eagle Forum so I forward to her also. And Heather knows a bunch of other Tea Partiers. Michelle is familiar with 9-12. Who else? We need a dozen to start with.

We need a committee chair to head up the operation and a spokesperson: maybe a politician looking for recognition. When we put this together, we can link-up with the Antelope Valley folks in a few days.

What better way is there to launch a new year?
John

Dianne,
Thanks.
You gave me an idea. I wonder who is an expert on the other Tea Party groups. There must be one in Antelope Valley/Lancaster.

And somebody must already know the details. Maybe our best bet is to link-up the Tea Party groups and find a few people in each one who is interested. Is there a network of group contacts?

Maybe somebody at Tea Party Nation or 9-12 or ???

Maybe there is already a defense fund.

This wanton destruction of private property and heinous imprisonment of an innocent person, is no different than the acts of Parliament that sparked the organization of the colonies to nullify the abominable provisions.

My cell number is 650-296-2169

And ANYONE can call me anytime!

Believe me, it takes first leaders (coaches) to put the play on the table
then assign everyone a position in the game.

Just a few of us TPers organized two meetings to help people file against
the Cal Fire TAX and we got over 200 people to attend! Now those people
are more familiar with our TP and what we stand for. It does not mean they
will attend meetings but when someone speaks derogatorily of the TP they just may
say - hey, those are regular people trying to help us! And it also means the FTB is receiving
a whole lotta appeals!

Bit by bit, we carry on and though one can get discouraged.... it just means you need to dust
yourself off, get up and get back

on the trail.

I KNOW

General Washington despaired many a time and he relied on prayer to get him

through those darkest times.

We should ALL PRAY TO NOT DESPAIR AND TO BE GUIDED IN WHAT IS
THE RIGHT COURSE TO TAKE, THE RIGHT ACTIONS TO TAKE.

This kind of prayer is said before every meeting we have, right after the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pray on these things and I have this very powerful feeling, hard to describe, that
compels me to complete the events we are putting into action.

Once things are set into motion, it is possible people will donate some money towards
this man's defense. The shame is it will not bring back his magnificent creation but
perhaps he will be uplifted by support and will build again somewhere. Either way, God has a plan
and his arrest may very well be apart of it. I always have believed that God chooses wisely
in selecting his warriors.

Dianne,

OK. I did some work to contact his lawyer and began a conversation on this list about some of the possible approaches, but yours had been the only response. (maybe Nina too)

It takes more than two people to do something like this so I figured my time was better- spent hammering on the people on this list and the so-called conservative movement, to wake-up to their own lack of awareness and their own total lack of responsibility for outcomes. There is nothing more pathetic and disgusting than people pointing at the sky, talking about bad things while an innocent person sits in prison.

If this were the NFL, they would all be fired 50 times-over for 50 loosing seasons.
I heard 7 coaches were just fired for one loosing season.

Find one year in the past fifty when liberty won? 1964 civil rights act? Roe V Wade?
That's the best report there is?

Now we have the Patriot Acts and Agenda 21!!!!

FIRED!!!

With the stats as a guide, they look more like the enemy.

So...I'm sorry I dropped the ball and didn't call you about taking the next step. I suppose that makes me no better than the rest of the unfit heirs to liberty. Maybe we can pick up some support, somewhere else from people who care. Maybe I can recover some dignity from my own miserable failure to restore liberty, by at least, making another showing.

After all, it was my sacred duty to preserve our liberty when I accepted the commission from the American Legion in 1970. So far I have failed completely.

Plus I can't remember what I did with your number. Mine is 707-623-6005.

But once again, yours is the only response to solving a real-time, real problem, in-progress destruction of somebody's life. I hope that changes. It is a sad day when the ACLU cares more than the so-called patriots.

Perhaps, some do worse... but I am attempting to pass a county ordinance to stop such powers by counties and code enforcement.

I post these things that I believe are not only relevant but give us a window into the future should we not turn the tide back.

People were incredulous when I told them Code Enforcement now carries guns!

Must be those dangerous criminal extra bathrooms... could shoot back or something???

And yes HIS NATION let him rot... and YES we are not helping the LA man either... so let's do it.

My plate is full but I have a bit of room....

I told you I could get an atty but they at least want some $$$

And his nation let him rot in prison.
We are doing the same thing now, here with the man in Lancaster and a million others in prison throughout the US.

Even worse, while our neighbor is being locked up here, we speak of someone across the ocean, locked up ten years ago. Not even the second amendment can save such flagrant irresponsibility.

Be Vigilant - Protect our 2nd Amendment Rights!

You're sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door\.

Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers.
At least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way.

With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun.

You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it.

In the darkness, you make out two shadows.

One holds something that looks like a crowbar.

When the intruder brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire.

The blast knocks both thugs to the floor.

One writhes and screams while the second man crawls to the front door

and lurches outside.

As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you're in trouble.

In your country, most guns were outlawed years

before, and the few that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless..

Yours was never registered.

Police arrive and inform you

that the second burglar has died.

They arrest you for First Degree Murder

and Illegal Possession of a Firearm.

When you talk to your attorney, he tells

you not to worry: authorities will probably plea the case down to manslaughter.

"What kind of sentence will I get?" you ask.

"Only ten-to-twelve years,"

he replies, as if that's nothing.

"Behave yourself, and you'll be out in seven."

The next day, the shooting is the lead

story in the local newspaper.

Somehow, you're portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men you shot are represented as choirboys.

Their friends and relatives can't find

an unkind word to say about them..

Buried deep down in the article, authorities acknowledge that both "victims" have been arrested numerous times.

But the next day's headline says it all:

"Lovable Rogue Son Didn't Deserve to Die."

The thieves have been transformed from career criminals into Robin Hood-type pranksters..

As the days wear on, the story takes wings.

The national media picks it up,

then the international media.

The surviving burglar
has become a

                                                          folk hero.

Your attorney says the thief is preparing

to sue you, and he'll probably win.

The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized several times in the past and that you've been critical of local police for their lack

of effort in apprehending the suspects.

After the last break-in, you told your neighbor that you would be prepared next time.

The District Attorney uses this to allege

that you were lying in wait for the burglars.

A few months later, you go to trial.

The charges haven't been reduced,

as your lawyer had so confidently predicted.

When you take the stand, your anger at

the injustice of it all works against you..

Prosecutors paint a picture of you

as a mean, vengeful man.

It doesn't take long for the jury to convict you of all charges.

The judge sentences you to life in prison.

This case really happened.

On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk , England , killed one burglar and wounded a second.

In April, 2000, he was convicted

and is now serving a life term..

How did it become a crime to defend one's own life in the once great British Empire ?

It started with the Pistols Act of 1903.

This seemingly reasonable law forbade selling pistols to minors or felons and established that handgun sales were to be made only to those who had a license.
The Firearms

                                                          Act of 1920
                                                          expanded
                                                          licensing to
                                                          include not
                                                          only handguns
                                                          but all
                                                          firearms
                                                          except
                                                          shotguns..

Later laws passed in 1953 and 1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon by private citizens and mandated the registration of all shotguns.

Momentum for

                                                          total handgun
                                                          confiscation
                                                          began in
                                                          earnest after
                                                          the Hungerford
                                                          mass shooting
in 1987. Michael Ryan, a mentally disturbed man with a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the streets shooting everyone he saw.

When the

                                                          smoke cleared,
                                                          17 people
                                                          were dead.

The British

                                                          public,
                                                          already
                                                          de-sensitized
                                                          by eighty
                                                          years of "gun
                                                          control",
                                                          demanded even
                                                          tougher
                                                          restrictions.

(The seizure

                                                          of all
                                                          privately
                                                          owned handguns
                                                          was the
                                                          objective even
                                                          though Ryan
                                                          used a
                                                          rifle.)

Nine years

                                                          later, at
                                                          Dunblane ,
                                                          Scotland ,

Thomas

                                                          Hamilton used
                                                          a
                                                          semi-automatic
                                                          weapon to
                                                          murder 16
                                                          children and
                                                          a teacher at
                                                          a public
                                                          school.

For many

                                                          years, the
                                                          media had
                                                          portrayed all
                                                          gun owners as
                                                          mentally
                                                          unstable, or
                                                          worse,
                                                          criminals.

Now the press

                                                          had a real
                                                          kook with
                                                          which to beat
                                                          up
                                                          law-abiding
                                                          gun owners.

Day after day,

                                                          week after
                                                          week, the
                                                          media gave up
                                                          all pretense
                                                          of objectivity
                                                          and demanded
                                                          a total ban
                                                          on all
                                                          handguns.

The Dunblane

                                                          Inquiry, a
                                                          few

months later,

                                                          sealed the
                                                          fate of the

few sidearms
still owned by

                                                          private
                                                          citizens.

During the

                                                          years in which
                                                          the British
                                                          government
                                                          incrementally
                                                          took away
                                                          most gun
                                                          rights, the
                                                          notion that a
                                                          citizen had
                                                          the right to
                                                          armed
                                                          self-defense
                                                          came to be
                                                          seen as
                                                          vigilantism.

Authorities

                                                          refused to
                                                          grant gun
                                                          licenses to
                                                          people who
                                                          were
threatened, claiming that self-defense was no longer considered a reason to own a gun.

Citizens who

                                                          shot burglars
                                                          or robbers or
                                                          rapists were
                                                          charged while
                                                          the real
                                                          criminals
                                                          were
                                                          released.

Indeed, after

                                                          the Martin
                                                          shooting, a
                                                          police
                                                          spokesman was
                                                          quoted as
                                                          saying,

"We cannot

                                                          have people
                                                          take the law
                                                          into their
                                                          own hands."

All of

                                                          Martin's
                                                          neighbors

had been

                                                          robbed
                                                          numerous
                                                          times,

and several

                                                          elderly people
                                                          were severely
                                                          injured in
                                                          beatings by
                                                          young thugs

who had no

                                                          fear of the
                                                          consequences.

Martin

                                                          himself, a
                                                          collector of
                                                          antiques,

had seen most

                                                          of his
                                                          collection

trashed or

                                                          stolen by
                                                          burglars.

When the

                                                          Dunblane
                                                          Inquiry ended,

citizens who

                                                          owned
                                                          handguns

were given

                                                          three months
                                                          to turn them
                                                          over to local
                                                          authorities.

Being good

                                                          British
                                                          subjects,

most people

                                                          obeyed the
                                                          law.

The few who

                                                          didn't were
                                                          visited by
                                                          police

and

                                                          threatened
                                                          with ten-year
                                                          prison
                                                          sentences if
                                                          they didn't
                                                          comply.

Police later

                                                          bragged that
                                                          they'd taken

nearly

                                                          200,000
                                                          handguns from
                                                          private
                                                          citizens.

How did the

                                                          authorities
                                                          know who had
                                                          handguns?

The guns had

                                                          been
                                                          registered
                                                          and licensed.

Antelope Valley Tea Party,
Nice website!

A statewide coalition is planned by some Northern Californians to address the injustice done to the builder of Phonehenge. We need your help to focus our resources most effectively.

If there are some members of your group who are familiar with the circumstances, maybe they could contact us. As yet this committee is un-named and we are filling out its structure.

Any input would be appreciated.

Dianne,

Bit by bit, we carry on and though one can get discouraged.... it just means you need to dust
yourself off, get up

and get back
on the trail.

Diane

Dianne,

John

Perhaps, some do worse... but I am attempting to pass a county ordinance to stop such powers by counties and code enforcement.

I post these things that I believe are not only relevant but give us a window into the future should we not turn the tide back.

People were incredulous when I told them Code Enforcement now carries guns!

Must be those dangerous criminal extra bathrooms... could shoot back or something???

And yes HIS NATION let him rot... and YES we are not helping the LA man either... so let's do it.

My plate is full but I have a bit of room....

I told you I could get an atty but they at least want some $$$

And his nation let him rot in prison.
We are doing the same thing now, here with the man in Lancaster and a million others in prison throughout the US.

Even worse, while our neighbor is being locked up here, we speak of someone across the ocean, locked up ten years ago. Not even the second amendment can save such flagrant irresponsibility.

Be Vigilant - Protect our 2nd Amendment Rights!

You're sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door\.

Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers.
At least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way.

With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun.

You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it.

In the darkness, you make out two shadows.

One holds something that looks like a crowbar.

When the intruder brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire.

The blast knocks both thugs to the floor.

One writhes and screams while the second man crawls to the front door

and lurches outside.

As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you're in trouble.

In your country, most guns were outlawed years

before, and the few that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless..

Yours was never registered.

Police arrive and inform you

that the second burglar has died.

They arrest you for First Degree Murder

and Illegal Possession of a Firearm.

When you talk to your attorney, he tells

you not to worry: authorities will probably plea the case down to manslaughter.

"What kind of sentence will I get?" you ask.

"Only ten-to-twelve years,"

he replies, as if that's nothing.

"Behave yourself, and you'll be out in seven."

The next day, the shooting is the lead

story in the local newspaper.

Somehow, you're portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men you shot are represented as choirboys.

Their friends and relatives can't find

an unkind word to say about them..

Buried deep down in the article, authorities acknowledge that both "victims" have been arrested numerous times.

But the next day's headline says it all:

"Lovable Rogue Son Didn't Deserve to Die."

The thieves have been transformed from career criminals into Robin Hood-type pranksters..

As the days wear on, the story takes wings.

The national media picks it up,

then the international media.

The surviving burglar
has become a

                                                          folk hero.

Your attorney says the thief is preparing

to sue you, and he'll probably win.

The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized several times in the past and that you've been critical of local police for their lack

of effort in apprehending the suspects.

After the last break-in, you told your neighbor that you would be prepared next time.

The District Attorney uses this to allege

that you were lying in wait for the burglars.

A few months later, you go to trial.

The charges haven't been reduced,

as your lawyer had so confidently predicted.

When you take the stand, your anger at

the injustice of it all works against you..

Prosecutors paint a picture of you

as a mean, vengeful man.

It doesn't take long for the jury to convict you of all charges.

The judge sentences you to life in prison.

This case really happened.

On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk , England , killed one burglar and wounded a second.

In April, 2000, he was convicted

and is now serving a life term..

How did it become a crime to defend one's own life in the once great British Empire ?

It started with the Pistols Act of 1903.

This seemingly reasonable law forbade selling pistols to minors or felons and established that handgun sales were to be made only to those who had a license.
The Firearms

                                                          Act of 1920
                                                          expanded
                                                          licensing to
                                                          include not
                                                          only handguns
                                                          but all
                                                          firearms
                                                          except
                                                          shotguns..

Later laws passed in 1953 and 1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon by private citizens and mandated the registration of all shotguns.

Momentum for

                                                          total handgun
                                                          confiscation
                                                          began in
                                                          earnest after
                                                          the Hungerford
                                                          mass shooting
in 1987. Michael Ryan, a mentally disturbed man with a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the streets shooting everyone he saw.

When the

                                                          smoke cleared,
                                                          17 people
                                                          were dead.

The British

                                                          public,
                                                          already
                                                          de-sensitized
                                                          by eighty
                                                          years of "gun
                                                          control",
                                                          demanded even
                                                          tougher
                                                          restrictions.

(The seizure

                                                          of all
                                                          privately
                                                          owned handguns
                                                          was the
                                                          objective even
                                                          though Ryan
                                                          used a
                                                          rifle.)

Nine years

                                                          later, at
                                                          Dunblane ,
                                                          Scotland ,

Thomas

                                                          Hamilton used
                                                          a
                                                          semi-automatic
                                                          weapon to
                                                          murder 16
                                                          children and
                                                          a teacher at
                                                          a public
                                                          school.

For many

                                                          years, the
                                                          media had
                                                          portrayed all
                                                          gun owners as
                                                          mentally
                                                          unstable, or
                                                          worse,
                                                          criminals.

Now the press

                                                          had a real
                                                          kook with
                                                          which to beat
                                                          up
                                                          law-abiding
                                                          gun owners.

Day after day,

                                                          week after
                                                          week, the
                                                          media gave up
                                                          all pretense
                                                          of objectivity
                                                          and demanded
                                                          a total ban
                                                          on all
                                                          handguns.

The Dunblane

                                                          Inquiry, a
                                                          few

months later,

                                                          sealed the
                                                          fate of the

few sidearms
still owned by

                                                          private
                                                          citizens.

During the

                                                          years in which
                                                          the British
                                                          government
                                                          incrementally
                                                          took away
                                                          most gun
                                                          rights, the
                                                          notion that a
                                                          citizen had
                                                          the right to
                                                          armed
                                                          self-defense
                                                          came to be
                                                          seen as
                                                          vigilantism.

Authorities

                                                          refused to
                                                          grant gun
                                                          licenses to
                                                          people who
                                                          were
threatened, claiming that self-defense was no longer considered a reason to own a gun.

Citizens who

                                                          shot burglars
                                                          or robbers or
                                                          rapists were
                                                          charged while
                                                          the real
                                                          criminals
                                                          were
                                                          released.

Indeed, after

                                                          the Martin
                                                          shooting, a
                                                          police
                                                          spokesman was
                                                          quoted as
                                                          saying,

"We cannot

                                                          have people
                                                          take the law
                                                          into their
                                                          own hands."

All of

                                                          Martin's
                                                          neighbors

had been

                                                          robbed
                                                          numerous
                                                          times,

and several

                                                          elderly people
                                                          were severely
                                                          injured in
                                                          beatings by
                                                          young thugs

who had no

                                                          fear of the
                                                          consequences.

Martin

                                                          himself, a
                                                          collector of
                                                          antiques,

had seen most

                                                          of his
                                                          collection

trashed or

                                                          stolen by
                                                          burglars.

When the

                                                          Dunblane
                                                          Inquiry ended,

citizens who

                                                          owned
                                                          handguns

were given

                                                          three months
                                                          to turn them
                                                          over to local
                                                          authorities.

Being good

                                                          British
                                                          subjects,

most people

                                                          obeyed the
                                                          law.

The few who

                                                          didn't were
                                                          visited by
                                                          police

and

                                                          threatened
                                                          with ten-year
                                                          prison
                                                          sentences if
                                                          they didn't
                                                          comply.

Police later

                                                          bragged that
                                                          they'd taken

nearly

                                                          200,000
                                                          handguns from
                                                          private
                                                          citizens.

How did the

                                                          authorities
                                                          know who had
                                                          handguns?

The guns had

                                                          been
                                                          registered
                                                          and licensed.

Kind of like

John,

I'm on board for this. What happened to Kim Fahey in Lancaster is an outrage that should not be allowed to stand.

Besides the LP, Tea Party, Eagle Forum, and 9/12 groups, I think Occupy groups could be part of this coalition as well. Many of them have been fighting against bank foreclosures of people's property. What good is it to save your property from the banks if government can come in and destroy what you have built, send you a huge bill for the destruction of your art, and then throw you in jail when you can't pay*?

Political partisans and many in the media have tried to marginalize Occupy as left-wing extremists, just as political partisans and many in the media previously tried to marginalize the Tea Party as right-wing extremists. Sad to say, those efforts appear to have been fairly effective in both cases, even though I know from personal experience that there are libertarian-oriented Ron Paul types in both groups, and significant overlap in their agendas. If these two groups, and other grassroots organizations both left, right, and libertarian were to work together on issues where we share a common, pro-freedom, anti-institutional perspective, I think it could not only help counter this attempted marginalization, but form the basis for a powerful front of resistance across the political spectrum, which is the last thing the statists in power want.

Folks are welcome to call me anytime as well.

*Speaking of throwing people in jail who can't pay, this recent SF Weekly cover story is a MUST-READ -- http://www.sfweekly.com/2012-11-21/news/barred-from-freedom-how-the-pretrial-detention-system-ruins-lives/ . It documents how OVER HALF of the people in San Francisco county jail -- as is true for many jails across the state and nation -- have been convicted of NOTHING. They are imprisoned for one simple reason -- they cannot afford bail. If bail is set at $300,000, that means you need to come up with $30,000 cash to go free until you get your day in court. For many people, this is beyond their means, and so they rot behind bars. This "pre-trial detention" is no less outrageous than what happened to Kim Fahey in Lancaster, multiplied by hundreds of thousands of individuals. "Innocent until proven guilty" is the bedrock principle of any fair system of justice, and no one who has not been convicted of a crime should spend a day behind bars unless a judge rules that he or she poses an immediate threat to public safety (e.g. someone picked up for being drunk and disorderly). Suspects who are reasonably deemed flight risks should get electronic bracelets, not incarceration.

P.S. - Can you post this to the BayAreaPatriots list for me?

The only organizations that don't think that a police-state has taken over, including the press, are the DNC, the RNC, and the police-state.

I think we're on to something here. Maybe one in a hundred will think it's OK to tear down someone's house and lock him up. The rest think it is intolerable.

Do you think John Dennis would be our spokesman? Ron Paul? Alec Baldwin?

A California coalition of these groups would be a serious vehicle to driving it nationwide.

John

Subject: Re: [lpsf-discuss] Coalition to defend Kim Fahey

"Innocent until proven guilty" is the bedrock principle of any fair system of justice, and no one who has not been convicted of a crime should spend a day behind bars unless a

judge rules that he or she poses an immediate threat to public safety (e.g. someone picked up for being drunk and disorderly). Suspects who are reasonably deemed flight risks should get electronic bracelets, not incarceration.
