Hi All. I'm inclined to agree with Marcy and not get involved with this crowd. If you read the article in Guardian, they don't sound that appealing at all. They compiled a giant list of businesses opposed to the tax, and it turned out that several of the businesses listed did not actually oppose the tax or know much about it at all. They are paid political consultants who work on campaigns period--not because they believe in the ideals.
I already left a message for the guy about 9 tonight, and I will make one more attempt to reach him tomorrow. I will listen to what he has to say but most likely (politely) say no thanks. For sure, we will not withdraw our argument, as he has requested. We're better off going on our own, as we always have, rather than working with iffy folks. We may be poor but we've still got our scruples!
Speaking of poverty, I will write a fresh email trying to jump start a campaign and raise some money for the November election now that we're on the map with 3 ballot measures. Also we need to get going writing the rebuttals for Monday morning.
Thanks to all for your help in submitting the ballot measures today!
Aubrey
My only thought is: Let's not do anything that we would be ashamed of anybody knowing. We are the party of principle.
