As I related at our meeting Saturday, I managed to get three arguments on this November's local ballot by employing the technique routinely used by maverick Republican Terence Faulkner -- submitting multiple nearly identical copies of each argument. This is (still) perfectly legal, and I explained to the Elections Department folks exactly what I was doing -- they had no problems with it, and I apparently easily won the lottery to be the official opponent for each of the three propositions I submitted arguments against.
Here is the first of those arguments, which were allowed to be up to 300 words each. I'm posting the other two arguments in separate messages. It would have been nice to be able to promote the Libertarian Party in these arguments, but given the time constraints, it was not practical to run them by members of the Executive Committee and wait for the necessary approval. In the absence of being able to promote the party directly, I decided against using the L-word in the arguments, because in my judgment it would not have made them more effective. It would be interesting to know how many people make the connection on their own, but I suppose we never will.
Yours in liberty,
