The meeting came to order at approx. 3:10pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the 3rd floor Paley conference room of the SF Main Library and via Jitsi videoconference.

Starchild announced a rally Rally happening on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 10:30am in Sacramento at the Capitol building on sex workers’ rights, along with appearing at a hearing on public safety committee. The committee Committee hearing starts at 9am. There are 3 bad bills to be lobbied against:, including an attempt to recriminalize loitering with intent to commit prostitution. California Sen. Scott Weiner’s law (good) that was adopted to be repealed in Jan. People would need to find their own lodging. Only 2 people allowed to speak in the hearing for a minute each; Starchild uncertain if he will testify.

Starchild made a guest appearance on a podcast, with “Big John” Georgoppolous. and He said he saw an interview Big John did with Mike ter Maat, who he thought was more polished performed better than when he previously visited San Francisco. Ter Maat is pushing has introduced a “Libertarian AI” called LISA. Starchild is interested and going to try to work with them on this, but thinks it’s outside the scope of his POTUS campaign.

Starchild mentioned talking with sound guy Paul Breed, who’s currently registered as no party preference, but seemed interested in LPSF and getting involved. Pro-freedom, but left sympathetic. Experienced with doing events. Starchild wants to organize with him. Paul is twitter/netfire4 on Twitter/X and has followed and reposted LPSF and LP National material on his feed.

Richard Winger joined the meeting at 3:25pm. Winger said he’d be willing to serve on the LPSF board if that is the only way to keep LPSF in active status with the state party, but he wasn’t interested in the treasurer position.

LPSF Officer Elections:
Treasurer has been the most difficult position to fill due to continuity issues.

Richard Winger left the meeting at approx. 4:05pm.

Local Candidates
Starchild reported talking with Jay J. Connor B. Ortega, Dem candidate for Supervisor in District 3 in after a debate in North Beach of S.F. Starchild talked to him after the debate and seemed said he seems pro-freedom except on criminal justice issues pro-police, was interested in the Democratic Freedom Caucus when Starchild mentioned that group. He came to an event at LPSF donor Scott Bannister’s place, LPSF donor, meeting featuring Elizabeth Nolan Brown from Reason. and Rob Kampia of DecriminalizeSexWork.org . Ortega’s website is https://www.jconr.com/ ; his website is not particularly libertarian, Starchild said, but in person seemed to Starchild as more pro-freedom.

Autumn Looijen, active with a backer of the school board recalls, is running for Supervisor in District 5, Haight area. Also, fairly pro-freedom, broad brushtrokes. https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/sf-district-5-supervisor-race-preston-l ooijen-18887730.php , San Francisco school recall leader to challenge Dean Preston

For mayoral candidates, Aaron Peskin might be best on civil liberties, according to Paul Breed but Starchild is somewhat skeptical. The other candidates viewed as the main contenders include incumbent mayor London Breed, Mark Ferreal Farrell, conservative leaning, Marina district. Asha Safai, moderate faction, was more conservative leaning, now siding more with progressives?. Daniel Lurie, tech outsider, heir to Levi Strauss fortune.

Starchild moved, Richard Winger seconded, to elect as a slate Starchild as

chair, Jawj Greenwald as vice chair, Richard Winger as secretary, and Terry

Nycum as treasurer. No objection. Passed unanimously.

Dean Preston is most the most progressive member of the Board of Supervisors. on the City Council. A lot of moderates and conservatives want to unseat him.

Approval of LPSF Minutes
Approval of LPSF minutes from January 2024-present were postponed to a future meeting when more members are present.

Discussed possibility of LPSF Possibly participating in the in SF Pride Parade
June 3, 2024 registration date
Food booth $4,000 Vegan $2,200, Dessert $1600
Waitlist for non-profit orgs: arts & crafts, non-profits ($800)
Problems with sound (too loud), not a lot of makes it difficult to have conversations with prospects.
Starchild thinks having at least 10 people should be seen as the minimum for participating in the parade due to requirements for training, wheel monitors, etc., less fewer for a booth., A bigger concern – is it worth paying $800, since without amenities (electricity, etc.).
There’s a fee of $112 (non-refundable) for non-profits in the parade; Starchild thinks that is more doable. One or two participants have to attend training sessions for safety, plus wheel monitors for vehicles. $212 for banners around the parade in prominent areas.
Pro-trans rights groups take priority, LPSF might get in with an explicit pro-trans message and “LPSF.org” on signs, as opposed to “Libertarian Party of San Francisco” (due to restrictions on political organizations and candidates).

Discussed possibility of LPSF Possibly participating in the in Juneteenth Parade, Saturday June 8, 2024
$250 parade fee for nonprofits (more than SF Pride)
$225 nonprofit booth
$185 community booth (cheapest option); could probably get in with this; one day event

juneteenthsfc.org placeholder website
Fillmore corridor 11am-6pm 8 blocks of celebration
Might be able to collaborate with another pro-freedom organization to split the cost of being in the parade.

LPCA Excom Attempted Disaffiliation of LPSF

Richard Fast will finish drafting the complaint against state chair Adrian Malagon’s attempted sanctioning of the LPSF and send it to Starchild and any other interested members for input and to see if anyone is interested in being a co-signer. Fast cannot be the person to submit the complaint since he is an associate member, as opposed to a county central committee member, so he is gauging support for co-sponsors. If there is no interest, he will drop the complaint.

The meeting adjourned at 5:08pm.

The next meeting will be from 3-5pm on the second Saturday of May 2024 in the 3rd floor Paley conference room at the SF Main Library and online via Jitsi videoconference.
