LPSF friend from New York Alton Yee has a pretty good observation on the LPSF Discussion list regarding "U Cities." U Cities when plotted on an X Y diagram would look like an inverted U, with X being number of residents and Y being income of residents. In U Cities the middle class is practically non existent, the poor are numerous because they are trapped by government incentives, and the rich are also numerous because they can afford whatever they want. Obviously, U Cities are any politician's dream come true: lots of property taxes from the rich, to fund lots of incentives for the poor and lots of progressive activism/votes from everybody.
Here is an article that speaks of the private market being unable to provide enough supply to bring down housing prices. The conclusion of this article is to instituted draconian measures such as rent control, eminent domain, and subsidies.
I just posted a article on the LPSF website www.lpsf.org arguing that there will never be "enough" to bring prices down.
And this brings me to LPSF Tax Day 2015:
Aubrey is thinking about proceeding with the topic of marijuana legalization and whether that will bring high taxes on the product and the accompanying disincentives that come with high taxation.
This subject is fine with me. However, as I stated many times before, I wonder if the general public on whom we would depend for attendance would be remotely interested in the subject marijuana legalization.
So, since, as far as I know, no commitment has been made as far as speakers, etc. I am wondering if discussion of the immense funding requirements necessary to continue the "Housing for All" policy is a good thing fort San Francisco. "Housing for All" is Mayor Ed Lee's housing plan on

PS My reservations about LPSF Tax Day 2015 remain in place, since I do not know if you all are behind this endeavor and willing to help. I would not want to see Aubrey doing all the work all by himself.
