Dear Everyone;

The Examiner has a front page story today on fiscal mis-management (
Surprise Surprise ) in a non-profit affordable housing developer and the Board of
Supervisors has ordered an audit of the $40 million they have received.

thanks ron!

pl lets have lots of LTE asking for more coverage of this issue and
expansion of the investigations -- there are 30,000 nonprofit units in city, and MHDC
is only 6% of this total.
many of the others are even more egregious centers of waste, mismanagement
and corruption.

Dear Sarosh And Everyone Else;

  While we have 2 economic issues for consideration the Payroll Tax Repeal and The City Employee wage cap Sarosh has raised a good point. An audit being required of any non-profit receiving City funds directly or in-directly and done annually.

  I do not know if regular audits are a City requirement but it would be real easy to write an initiative to require annual audits of any non-profit receiving City funds with the non-profit setting aside such funds as would be needed for a CPA signed audit.

  This is a topic for discussion e-mail wise and if needed being brought forward at the January LPSF for further discussion and vote or whatever.
