Animation on bunker buster bomb

Derek,

nobody who is anybody in government is going to cross us again any time soon.

I'll bet you dinner on this.

Best, Michael

Yeah, I would too. In the event that Bush does order a nuclear strike against Iran, Derek, would you be willing to bet that no other government will use or pursue acquiring weapons of mass destruction against the wishes of USgov or major terrorist acts against the United States for a period of five years following such a strike? I propose that the following conditions be set for the bet:

-a high-ranking USgov official publicly accuses another government of seeking, during the five-year period, to acquire WMDs
-a United Nations body finds that a government has violated, during the five year period, legal restrictions or agreements related to acquiring weapons of mass destruction
-a high-ranking USgov official condemns the use, during the five-year period, of WMDs by another government
-a high-ranking USgov official accuses another government of complicity in a terrorist attack, conducted within USgov jurisdiction or against USgov personnel during the five-year period, in which at least 50 U.S. nationals are killed or wounded

I'll bet that at least one of these things would happen in the five years following a USgov nuclear strike against Iran. But I'd prefer to make the bet for a sum of money rather than dinner -- that way I could send the winnings to help the victims of the nuclear attack.

Yours in liberty,

One thing is for sure: if we nuke Iran, the rest of the world is going to be scared. We'll probably evoke huge demonstrations and condemnations from the streets and pundits worldwide, but nobody who is anybody in government is going to cross us again any time soon.

Sounds like a Long Bet.

OK, that makes sense. Are you familiar with the Long Bet site that Justin posted? I'm not, but it looks interesting -- maybe there's a way we could record the bet there? Paging Dr. Edelstein... do you want to be part of this bet too? How would that work?

OK, you're on, but I want a clause exempting North Korea from #1 and #2 of the bet, as they already have WMD

Yeah, I would too\. In the event that Bush does order a nuclear strike
