Thanks for the post, Francoise. Lots of statistics we can use, as well as a summary of the three "evils" of Airbnb:

Remove units from the market during a time when permanent housing is scarce: Not a difficult argument -- property owners should be able to do what they want with their property.

Change neighborhood character: Not a difficult argument -- if neighbors are not complaining about specific problems, no harm is done.

Non-payment of "hotel tax:" We don't like taxes. But that is an argument for fellow tax resisters, not the general public. Maybe Airbnb can promote legislation to redefine what is a "hotel?"

BTW, the San Francisco Examiner has an article "How the Minimum Wage Increase Will not Help" (meaning still not a living wage in S.F.). I tried to post the obvious that wages go up, so do taxes and prices of goods and services, and marginal benefit to the wage earner is zero. But, for some reason my password would not work (conspiracy!).

Anyway, I promised to write something on the "Conflict of Interest" nonsense, which I will do in the next couple of weeks. Ah, yes, everybody, pass the word that our Campaign Fund needs some greening, just in case we cannot get a free ballot argument.
