Agenda, Meeting of 11 August 2018

Hi all,

Here is my proposed agenda for our August meeting.

Important notes!
*- We will meet in the 1st floor (Stong) room in the library. *Head to
your left after entering through the scanners.*- We have a lot to cover, so please plan to arrive on time at 3:00! *We
will be starting on schedule.*- I am expecting John Dennis to join us toward the end of the meeting*,
and hopefully he will come to eat with us after as well. We normally
head to Ananda Fuara just a few blocks away after our meeting-- anyone
is welcome to join.
Please let me know if there is something urgent you need to add!
Thanks and see you on Saturday at 3:00!
Nick Smith

I kindly request that we remove the activist reports and replace with public comment.

(-announce list)

Rebecca,
We allow public comment at the beginning of the meeting (introductions)
and welcome it in the activist reports as well. I personally feel that
our tradition of highlighting activism in the meetings is a driving
force that fuels it. We use this as an opportunity to share what is
working and to recognize each others efforts. Especially for new
attendees, it gives an idea of how they might be able to contribute. For
all of us, it helps reinforce how we as individuals make a difference.
I would consider replacing introductions with "Introductions / Public
comment" if there is a need that is not being met. Please let us know
what your concern is and how this works in the excomm / other groups.
Thanks!
Nick

I kindly request that we remove the activist reports and replace with
public comment.>

I agree, Nick. I think the activism reports serve several valuable purposes, as you've outlined, that would not be readily replaced by having just an opportunity for public comment, and would be against getting rid of them. (I also like that our meetings are fairly casual and that we don't really restrict comments to a particular portion of the meeting.) However, Rebecca, I appreciate your willingness to question things and propose changes! Keep the creative juices flowing...

Love & Liberty,
                                ((( starchild )))

I will be in Wisconsin celebrating my mother’s 90th birthday. Have a good meeting.

Mike
