Taxpayer unions have been effective single-topic groups in other cities,
increasing liberty - or at least fighting its erosion - by organizing
opposition to tax increases, wasted tax money, and working to roll back
taxes. It's also a good opportunity to build alliances and good relations
with other fiscal conservatives.
For example, Richard Rider, the very active San Diego Libertarian, has done
most of his best work, and is best known outside the party, in his capacity
with the San Diego Tax Fighters.
I note also that this date is shortly before Internal Service Day; it may
be a good opportunity to publicize our tax protest.

money from the tax collectors and gave it back to the taxpayers.

I agree with Chris that getting involved in an anti-tax group would
be good. I will try to attend the meeting. However, Chris, do you
know who is sponsoring or organizing this meeting? I did not see
that information in your e-mail.

I don't believe any particular group is *officially* sponsoring this; this
group, if established, would be its own thing.
However, I learned of the meeting from SF SOS, so I suspect that the
so-called moderates are behind it, the same folks behind SF SOS, Plan C,
Care Not Cash, etc. Not bad people, but definitely not libertarians. Yet.
