Waterfront height limits initiative

Thanks for the article. A suit was totally expected, the fact that the BOS has been handing out exceptions for waterfront limits all along not withstanding. True that the lands in question are under Port Commission jurisdiction, but I believe past City ordinances affecting the waterfront have gone unchallenged, messing up the developers' neat argument.

Personally, I think this is a most interesting issue, that does indeed need clarification by the courts. We are talking about a lot of prime property here, ready for stack & pack, regardless of previous limits established by the voters.

It would be a shame if LPSF chose to stay out of this fight! Although I did not indicate any LPSF stance on the matter, I did post an article on the LPSF website in response to Supervisor Wiener's unorthodox request that City departments provide a report outlining the effects of the initiative on the "housing crisis" and infrastructure.
