URGENT – LP National outreach materials - order or not?

Okay, the LP store that does merchandise for national apparently says they can get us the materials by Saturday, but the shipping would be very expensive. Here’s the list of items I asked about ability to ship and price:

• 250 Civil Liberties rack cards
• 250 The Economy rack cards
• 250 Nolan Chart door hangers

“Affiliate In A Box” package items (2 boxes)
• 100 wristbands
• 100 ballpoint pens
• 100 stickers
• 100 tip cards
• 100 branded magnets

You can see all the stuff they have online at Start https://24-7.master-print.com/Libertarians/UserJCatalog.aspx?category=26.

For the items listed above, the price adds up to $440, but then the shipping is another $515, so we’d be looking at $955. As there are 1250 items, the average cost per item would be about $.76.

Do folks think we should order the fliers to pass out for Folsom Fair Sunday as we discussed, or not?

Love & Liberty,

((( starchild )))

Let’s order them. Honestly, I don’t want to go to the Folsom Street Fair.
I’ve been once and don’t want to attend. I understand it’s a big public
engagement but I really don’t feel comfortable there.

Sure, but if we don’t need it for Sunday, because you aren’t going, we can
make some SF specific materials, based on the Alameda template, and then
drive local political action, vs national.

Materials from national don’t do us as much good, when our current mission
is to create local interest. We need a call to action on our materials that
leads people to the SF party, not national party.

Starchild, are you definitely going to Folsom? Is anyone else definitely
going?

I have no strong feelings one way or another, but sounds like the consensus is not to order them, so that’s okay by me. Chris, if you no longer want to do outreach at Folsom Street, I guess that’s all the more reason not to shell out a bunch of extra money just to have stuff by Sunday.

I’ll be going anyway; I have a new statewide petition measure that I’m circulating, to stop a major new regulatory law imposing wage controls on fast food restaurants (see e.g. California’s fast-food industry calls for referendum on new labor legislation | US unions | The Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/sep/18/california-labor-law-fast-food-industry-referendum for more info) , so I’ll be collecting signatures for that and hopefully I can get some signs and lit from the Hamasaki for DA campaign as well, which Jay or anyone else coming can help carry/distribute if you wish. I also have chalk if anyone wants to do street chalking with me.

I can order the stuff from national on the regular schedule without the expedited shipping charge if desired, and we can do another event. I’d like to try to get some local LPSF materials designed, too. I’m in contact with the artist who did the porcupine image I shared at our meeting (cropped image attached below) and hope to get a more usable version of the image soon. Here is a list I started a while back of possible topics for local issue-based literature pieces to address. Ideally I’d love to have fliers on each and every one of these, and keep a supply of them on hand:

···

Are You On Camera?

(finished)

#GovernmentGreed

(How the things government does make more sense if you think of it as a for-profit operation)

Saying No To Federal Bullying

(On the Constitutional system of federalism and how the Feds are violating it with war on marijuana, why the 19th Amendment was bad, etc.)

San Francisco’s Biggest Landlord

(Discuss how paying property tax means you don't really own your property, but rent from government; also discuss restrictions on land use)

Black Rock City vs. SF

(Comparing the relatively unregulated city that springs up around the Burning Man festival each year and all the community spirit and innovation it fuels, compared with restricted and regulated San Francisco, the city that drove Burning Man out of town)

Why Is Housing So Expensive?

(YIMBY movement, need to end restrictive zoning, land use laws, importance of property rights for everyone)

Choices Vs. Monopolies

(Dscussing the general idea that choice is better, and that monopolies -- cable TV, local landline phone service, water, electricity, etc. -- are put in place by government and are unnecessary)

Community Policing Now!

(On the Patrol Specials and SFPD's hostility to them, the idea of demand-driven community policing, getting police out of their cars, etc.)

Decriminalize Prostitution!

(On the sex work rights movement and San Francisco's key history in that movement, Margo St. James, Robyn Few, Carol Leigh, Maxine Doogan)

Our Sanctuary City

(On immigrant rights, SF's leadership in trying to protect and accord legal rights to undocumented migrants, expanding the "sanctuary city" idea to other topics)

Free The Schools!

(On the government school cartel, my campaign platform for school board, charter schools & homeschooling alternatives)

Neighbor vs. Neighbor

(How the government planning/approval process turns people into busybodies, fuels NIMBYism, pits us all against each other, and wastes massive amounts of time and money)

What Can We Do About Homelessness?

(Discuss criminalization of poverty – people sleeping in their cars, zoning laws, etc., building tiny Jim Reid houses as incremental solution)

No 6-Figure Government Salaries!

(The case for capping public servant salaries at $99,999)

Share Public Space!

(Discussing the Occupy movement, graffiti, individuals creating art and improving/beautifying public spaces, etc.)

Skating Is Not A Crime!

(On local government criminalization of skateboarding, inline skating, and alternative transportation generally)

Stop The War On Fun!

(On local government hostility to rave parties, the music scene, drug use, nudity, etc.)

Let me know thoughts, ideas, if anyone wants to help do any writing, etc.

For the time being, and that we don’t really have anything locally printed up, 1,000 brochures for ~$500 isn’t horrible? UPS is ~$1k. IDK but we can at least get something printed. I just spoke with the FedEx store and the turn around is a few days depending on the store. Each store has different machines. It would be good to have something on hand. Attached is a sample Max updated with our graphics.

### Brochures

Custom brochures or pamphlets printed with FedEx Office are sure to make an impact for your business or event. Print professional trifold brochures and pamphlets online or in-store and see the power of printing with FedEx Office.

Price: USD 27.99

For the time being, and that we don’t really have anything locally printed up, 1,000 brochures for ~$500 isn’t horrible? IDK but we can at least get something printed. I just spoke with the FedEx store and the turn around is a few days depending on the store. Each store has different machines. It would be good to have something on hand.
