URGENT - [baclc] Proposed BACLC letter to Fremont City Council

Hi all,

  Please (especially officers) review below letter ASAP -- I'm proposing the Bay Area Civil Liberties Coalition send it out on behalf of our member groups (including LPSF). Start at the bottom if you'd like the chronological correspondence concerning the issue. I'll bring it to our meeting tomorrow, but text may be subject to revision by other BACLC members as well, so no final version to authorize at this time. But hopefully soon (by end of weekend or Monday at latest).

Hi Starchild. Thanks for drafting your letter below. Funny that this should come up now after I just included an article in my June newsletter about Mayor Lee pushing for the same cameras in SF. I also talked about the obvious potential civil liberties abuses. The cops love such "tools." I like your point about police actually getting out of their cars and walking their beats. You listed plenty of excellent talking points that should shame those council members if they approve the cameras.

Thank you. I say yes. Extremely minor: did you mean to capitalize City Council in some places and not in others?

Maybe you would like to keep us posted when the final is done and maybe LPSF can post it on our website and Facebook?
