I wonder what the good doctor was talking about that we casually dismiss it in favor of ?? .....
He was talking about the Constitution as it was intended, not as it has become. Interestingly, when talking to young people these days at tablings, etc, I hear repeatedly that the Constitution is either a "living document" that must change with the times, or an outdated document that does not fit today's realities. Thus, the obvious proliferation of unconstitutional actions, or the dubiousness of trying to stop actions via constitutional amendments nowadays.
In the case of creeping universal government healthcare, as with everything else, I favor understanding the economic shortcomings of the plan and publicizing them, in hopes those who fund such plans with balk.
