Marci:
Excellent Article!.
I made copies of this for future reference.

Oops. Maybe I should not have expressed my agreement with this.
I am sure it will be answered by a chorus of denunciations. The last time I expressed my opinion in this forum I thought I was going to be burned at the stake or at least drummed out of the party.
But.....Marci pointed it out so I guess at least one other Libertarian agrees with it. This will perhaps save me from the charge of heresy.

Leslie, if I were to get a penny over all the times my comments were met with loud counter arguments on our lists, I would be a billionaire. But, the way I see it, that is what the lists are for! They are a good forum for venting, while we all remain OK with one another.
Glad you like the article.
As an aside. Aubrey, Starchild, and I participated in the Log Cabin endorsement meeting (which I enjoyed thoroughly). The meeting was held in the bar area of a restaurant. The bartenders were totally ignoring the meeting, until the speaker on Proposition J started speaking. Then, they were paying attention. Their jobs were on the line.
More aside. The reporter from KPOO I talked with today was great, and I enjoyed my discussion with her. I told her about Starchild's participation at the Commonwealth Club, and she said she "might" come to see.

Les,
Denunciation for opposing wage control laws? I could be wrong, but I think our group is pretty much in unanimous agreement that such laws are bad.

Excellent, Marcy! Glad to hear it went well, hopefully we'll see a favorable article. Do you remember what kinds of questions she asked?

((( starchild )))
Hi Starchild,
Thanks for asking. Here are some as I recall:
Why is your group opposing Proposition E?
You are suggesting personal choice even if the choice is bad?
Are you familiar with European countries that instituted the same tax, only to repeal them?
Would this tax not serve to stimulate the economy?
Do you think this tax targets people in the lower educational and economic ranks?
Would this tax encourage people to consume better food?
If you do not think this tax is appropriate, what would you suggest be done about poor food choices?
We all pay for individuals' poor choices, so should we not encourage better choices?
Interestingly, this reporter (sorry I am not sure about her name, which I understood was Luis, usually a man's name) went with my paradigm that sugar is bad for you is not the issue -- we know that -- but the issue is individual choice, cultural norm, and an ever expanding bureaucracy needing to control our lives. I remember another reporter at the time of the Richmond tax who would not let go of the line that sugar is bad and we should not let people have it. That was a more difficult talk.
