The Pentagon is engaged in vehicle surveillance in 6 Midwest states (UK Guardian, 8/2/19)

This is disturbing... in a healthier society it would be front-page news, and would not have needed a non-U.S. publication to reveal! The British media outlet The Guardian reports that the U.S. government (the Pentagon, specifically) has deployed radar weather balloons that can spy on vehicles moving through parts of South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Illinois 24/7, day or night in all kinds of weather:

Those in power routinely do all kinds of disturbing, immoral, unconstitutional and illegal things, but every now and then I'll read something that feels like some kind of new line being crossed, and this is one of those things.

Yet it fits a familiar pattern: Once again, technology that has already been used by the U.S. government against people outside the U.S. (in Afghanistan, according to the article, and along the U.S.-Mexico border), they are now using inside the country to spy on Americans. The involvement of the Pentagon is a clear violation of the Posse Comitatus Act (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posse_Comitatus_Act) that bars the military from being used for domestic law enforcement.

Two favorite statist justifications are offered for this latest Big Brother manifestation – to "deter drug trafficking and homeland security threats". The irony being that the biggest threat by far to the security of people living in the United States is the U.S. government itself!

Will this wake up some who aren't already woke on the matter of police state encroachments? One sometimes wonders whether there's anything that some of those to whom the term "sheeple" applies won't meekly accept, so long as those in power use the right buzzwords to play on their fears, ideologies, or animosities.
