SFPD Assigns 32 Police Officers to Sweep Homeless

Dear Ron,

1. Regarding the "Weed out Useless Laws" proposed initiative, I
agree with you that the sentiments therein are excellent seed for
thought and discussion! And maybe a new local LPSF brochure.

2. Of the many proposals we have had so far for a civil liberties
initiative, I personally like the police priorities the most;
primarily because it is a local issue that will not run up against
state or federal regulation. Others on the list have also expressed
interest on this proposal. Might we take this to a vote during
Saturday's meeting? I am thinking that if we do not make up our
minds, we will not have enought time to actually do the work of
getting our initiatives on the ballot.

3. If we go with the police priorities proposal, we might have
an opportunity to talk to the general public about the
Libertarian view point on crime (get rid of enforcement of silly
crime and focus on the serious stuff), homelessness (people-to-
people help works best), the best use of our police force (public
servants hired to protect the public from serious harm), etc.

Just some thoughts; hope they help.

Marcy
