SF Examiner Publishes My Beat Foot Patrol LTE With Libertarian Affiliation

Dear Everyone;

After the SF Examiner had an article about having more SFPD beat foot patrols I wrote how it could be done using some of the intent of our proposed Police Redepolyment Petition. I sent it as an LTE and the Examiner agreed including the Libertarian affiliation with a llittle minor editing for space.

Finding officers for foot patrols (“Call for foot patrols in high-crime areas gains support,” Sept.13) can be done with the current SFPD staffing.
Officers writing tickets for broken brake lights, acting as construction site crossing guards and motorcycle escorts don’t protect anyone from a murderer, robber or rapist stalking city streets.
The command staff must use the current staffing more productively and efficiently. Stop assigning officers to victimless crime, nonessential and nonpriority duties. This frees up enough beat foot patrols officers for all “hot spot” high crime districts.
