RE: URGENT ACTION ITEM Re: [lpsf-discuss] should SFLP oppose Bay View Redevelopment? Call your Supervisor!

Starchild,
What happened at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday? Did any
of the Libertarians go and protest the huge redevelopment plan for the
Bayview/Hunter's Point area? I called Bevan's aide and luckily she didn't
ask for my address as we don't live in S.F. However, I went to Bayview
Elementary School (now Charles Drew) so I have good memories of the area.
From looking at the Redevelopment map, I think the house my dad grew up in
is in the Redevelopment area. Guess I should go take a picture of it
while it's still there. It looks like the house I grew up in is not
included.
We're still circulating the anti eminent domain abuse petitions
because our group didn't get the 800,000 signatures we needed by the end of
April. Now we are collecting until the middle of July. If we get enough
by then, the initiative will be on the June 2008 ballot. A group of
lawyers did look at our petition and they believe it will pass judicial
review. We could use help in getting signatures, so if anyone in your
group wants to help, we'd be happy to mail you petitions. They are a
great way to get a conversation started if you are a candidate for the Nov.
election. About 85% of the people we talk to sign our petition. It's
just that we need LOTS of petition circulators to reach 800,000 people.
E-mail me if anyone wants petitions or go to the website:
www.LimitEminentDomain.org Thanks.
Marge Parkhurst

View Redevelopment? Call your Supervisor!

Hi Robert,

I didn't go to the Board meeting, just made some calls. According to this brief article, the Bayview/HP "redevelopment" (aka "force the poor residents out") vote has been postponed until May 16. So we have another chance to show up and speak out.

Regarding the eminent domain petitions, what group is "your group?" Who wrote the initiative, and who was in on that process, do you know? If you can bring some up here, I'll take them to the Whole Earth festival tabling this weekend.

Yours in liberty,

Oops, here is the link -- http://www.indybay.org/archives/archive_by_id.php?id=4576&category_id=12

I'm also sorry that your dad's house may be in jeopardy. Would you post the links to any redevelopment maps you're aware of please?

Yours in liberty,
