RE: [lpsf-discuss] Re: Voluntary Taxation

I think Marcy's point is that whether there is voluntary taxation or not, is not the contest we have at hand....unless of course, it is a "contest of hot air".

Not that it can't be a contest, when we are a league of suficient power to make it a contest.

The real end to the killing of whales is not in the argument of whether there should be whaling, it is in stopping the killing of whales. Then there can be a realistic strategy that puts the boat in the water.....rubber to road...axe to the log...etc

John...Just sayin volunteerism is a real possibility that works in other "social groups" and shouldn't be discounted at the tax event. This all started with Starchild's speakimg on how the event was being positioned. While deferring to Marcy and Aubrey as they did the work, Starchild's comments on voluntary taxes seem to be getting the "brush off". Marcy said she wouldn't support an X in the world before she had seen it. Anyone can see that X (volunteerism in commercial endeavors) works and current examples were provided. Call it "hot air" if you want.

There should be a place for the NAP in this taxation discussion. Demonstrating how volunteerism currently works in commercial transactions is a start. Alternatively civil disobedience is a pretty straightforward way to "stop killing the whales" to use your imagery if that's what you are proposing John. Compared to the focused nature of that solution this whole tax event seems a waste. But I'm showing up anyways.

Over and out...

Mike

Oops, Mike said "over and out" but his e-mail needs a HUGE clarification!! Absolutely, Aubrey and I are NOT censoring literature on voluntarism. Please, please, if you have good literature on the subject print some and submit for the table.

I plead guilty for the confusion, since I have been talking about verifiable examples, and all the other stuff that bean-counter types like me dwell on.

This was a discussion among friends, where we felt comfortable expressing our thoughts on taxation, as well as expressing how we feel about the function of the LPSF. We have been stating forever that Libertarians are not a monolithic block. No block need feel censored from the Tax Day Outreach table (as long as the subject you submit is tax-related, otherwise, you are censored).
