Not allowing one's self to reproduce and flourish is nearly the same in the end as having lightning come blasting through the roof incinerating you and not touching anyone else in nearby proximity. If one chooses to not reproduce because they have committed themselves to some higher calling that doesn't involve the murder of their own spawn, that would be different.
In other words, life is justified by something ‘higher’ or by one’s vicarious immortality. I disagree.
The purpose of life is to be happy, and the humanistic heights are justified because of the immense happiness they bring. Life is a reason unto itself- to demand life be lived for posterity or an external good is spiritual slavery.
