RE: [lpsf-discuss] Re: Dues Confusion

Dear All,

I prefer a combination of the options we are discussing; 1) A basic
membership fee (already discussed) in combination with 2) additional
voluntary contributions. The basic membership fee provides for the
basics. I see no irony in establishing a base level of membership
contribution in a voluntary organization. This is needed to fund a basic
budget. Any business person in for profit or not for profit
organizations knows the importance of this. Many already contribute many
times the membership fee over the course of a year in time and money. If
someone cannot afford basic minimal amount, I would recommend services
in lieu of the membership fee. Allowing someone full access to voting
without a little organizational sweat seems downright socialistic and
I'd vote against it.
