RE: [lpsf-discuss] Breaking Newstory: Bush and Cheney Authorized Leak Which Outed Plame

What a terrible thing to happen to such nice guys....

Dear Mike;

  The only problemo is if Bush/Cheney was indicted and convicted he would pardon himself - and don't even believe Mr. Sleaze wouldn't try to do that....

Dear Derek;

It wasn't the leak per se it was the fact a CIA agent got outed.
Leaks are one thing but outing an agent is agin' the law - not that
Bush lets such small details stand in his way as to whther or not
there is a law. He and his underlings just do what the heck they
feel like doing whenever they feel like it and laws just get in the
way... like the Numero Uno law called the US Constitution which he
swore to preserve protect and defend all the while he was saying
that he was lying through his teeth ...liar liar pants on fire ...
that's Bush.

Is it even illegal for Bush to authorize a leak? My understanding

the law is unclear whether the president can, by executive order,

information. Legal scholars are divided.

Gold hits $600/oz
http://edition.cnn.com/2006/BUSINESS/04/06/us.gold.ap/index.html

Now that it's front page news, it's most likely going
to go crazy. Of course it's mainly due to the dollar
tanking. I heard a great quote on safehaven.com this
week-

"When you pull the plug in your filled-up bathtub at
home, the walls of the tub aren't really rising. It's
the water level that's falling - until you hear that
familiar gurgling sound that tells you it's all over."

funny stuff.

Seriously though, I'm really surprised there isn't
more concern about this activity on this list. After
all Libertarians have been predicting for years that
the fiat dollar would eventually crash. Granted I
don't expect everyone to be interested in currency
markets but the social implications are likely to be
staggering - mass unemployment, homelessness, fuel
shortages/prices and general unrest.

Not that anyone can do anything about it at this point
but I'm sure it will be the 'capitalists' and
free-marketers that take the blame as always.

okay, I'll stop the gloom and doom now. :slight_smile:

Dear Everyone;

  Try this gold news column printed in todays Examiner:

  http://abcnews.go.com/Business/story?id=1808475&page=1&business=true&business=true

  And this other important news item on a Chinese offical saying DO NOT buy US bonds:

  http://www.examiner.com/Search-a67115~Chinese_Official__Don_t_Buy_U_S__Bonds.html

  These two items together say more about what is coming then what we are prepared for - worse case scenario wise.
