This seems to be an argument in the abortion debate as well. Of course, the same argument could be used against medicines or protective technology in general. Using this logic, we should ban heart medications in the interest of encouraging people to eat low fat diets. And vaccinations of children in order to encourage people to be more cautious about exposing their children to germs.
