Thanks for this post, Starchild. The Rec & Park is growing its empire like crazy, and I am concerned more about their land purchases than their astroturf, since water conservation may not be a bad thing. Also, opposition to lights is in essence opposition to nighttime events; not so sure I want that. I am aware of the argument that city lights prevent us from enjoying the night sky. So, some balance needs to be achieved -- events vs stargazing. Anyway, that's my two cents.
BTW, the reason for my concern regarding the land purchases is that if the Rec & Park buys up open space and the City buys up areas for "affordable housing," this town is going to end up being solidly government owned.
